Quiz-Which American accent do you have?

I came up neutral. I've spent the last 17 years in Arkansas and I've been told by friends here in central Iowa that I now have a hint of Southern which kinda caught me by surprise.

Neutral. That was a pretty cool quiz. I think I was mostly northern but there were a few words where the southern Iowa would come out in me (roof)

Neutral, but I have moved around a lot. Iowa (6 towns). South Dakota, Minnesota (2 towns), Nebraska (4 towns), Missouri, Olkahoma (2 towns) and North Carolina. After living in all those places, I can pronounce most of those words several ways.

Neutral, i've lived in east-central Iowa all my life. I have been asked before "where are u from?" I guess I say somethings weird but not the ones they asked. Collar and Caller i had to repeat a few times.

Western. I haven't seen anyone post the description yet so....

Western is kind of neutral, but not quite since it`s still possible to tell where you`re from. So you might not actually be from the West (but you probably are). If you really want to sound "neutral," learn how to say "stock" and "stalk" differently.

i got the western accent.

it told me i needed to learn to pronounce stalk and stock differently to be neutral...can someone tell me how you do that

I got Western the first time, but then I went back and changed my answer on the "Collar/Caller" question (after repeating it to myself several times I do think there is a slight difference in how I say them). That time I got Neutral.

the vowel sound in "stock" is kind of an "ahh" sound. In "stalk" it's more of an "aww" sound. Plus the "l" is not entirely silent.

Stalk has more of an 'ah' to it, while stock has a deeper 'o' in the middle. Just watch your mouth when you say it.

I got neutral, go figure. Central Iowa raised with family from southern Iowa.

lol. I must say it differently than you(read: correct).

Did anyone say that they pronounce "Bag" like "Vague?" I'd like to know what part of the country teaches people that little linguistic nugget, so I can avoid ever vacationing there.

Western for me as well. But from experience: Northern when I've been drinking or hang out with my Minnesotan/Canadian friends; Southern when I yell. No, I have no idea.
