I haven't even been thinking QB change. really people??? Sam is not to blame for a non existent running game!!! He can't block for the RB's, he has a good percentage of completions, he is in ISU's top 5 for career stats in a lot of categories. It is not same!!! Changing QB's is not going to make a running game happen! The coaches need to adjust and the OL needs to open holes! But I do like the idea of getting the 2nd stringer getting his feet wet a little bit. let him take a series in the 2nd quarter or a few back to back plays.

You keep Sam while there's still a chance at a bowl because he's the best chance for W's. Once that's realistically gone you play for the future and get Lanning some experience.

I didn't keep count but I know he missed all 3 throws on the drive after Iowa went ahead. Lazard just bailed him out on one of them.

Lazard made multiple really impressive catches down the sidelines. I think that's really what bothers me the most thus far... We run a spread offense with some of the best receivers assembled in school history, and we struggle to utilize their full potential.

I'm not a big Sam believer, but I think the answer is clearly "Status quo - This job is SR's unless he gets hurt no matter what the W/L record looks like."

We've only played 2 games and there are plenty of issues on offense not named Sam Richardson. I think the worst thing you can do is overreact, even though the 2nd half was atrocious.

I voted to keep SR but I would like to see what Lanning can do from a wildcat formation in the running game possibly.

One thing to add is when you start rotating Qbs everything goes off..it's not a good situation. You stick with one QB unless your starter is so bad that it warrants a change. That last INT by SR was a really really awful throw given the situation. I mean he had to have seen the DB was in far better position than the WR all the way across the field too...basically an impossible throw to make for a NFL QB.

the coaching staff has done a terrible job recruiting, there are tons of JC QB's better

Risky as it be, I wouldn't mind pulling in a JuCo QB. Our last batch of JuCo's seem to be working pretty well thus far, so maybe that streak could continue.

I'll have to go back and watch sometime.

I also recall a drive in the 4th quarter, after a bad throw, when the Fox announcer said "That's Sams first bad throw of the game, other than that throw, he's been great."

If Iowa State is out of a bowl game spot, keep Sam the starter but implement one of the other QB for next year at the same time. Sam gets 2/3, Lanning or Rohach the other.

Sam for the time being. I don't think Rohach would be an upgrade, and with the OL problems I'm not sure it would make much difference either way. It sounds like the coaching staff really wants Lanning to be the guy at some point in the future, but putting him in now with no running game and iffy pass protection is essentially throwing him to the wolves. For better or worse, Sam's the guy. Give him a decent run game and he's a serviceable QB. Ask him to carry the offense on his shoulders and you get what you got on Saturday in the second half.

Good lord, still reverting back to the idea that the backup is going to be better. Great plan there folks.

I'd probably take it just to develop the backup(s). Sam's time to develop has ended. He's not coming back next season. The other two are.

100% agree with that. If they make a change it better be all the way. All that rotational garbage does is destroy the confidence for two QBs instead of one. No half measures.

I have only read a few things since the game because it is mostly people overreacting to the game. I will say this though. QB is one of our strongest position groups right now. Yes our offense was absolutely horrendous in the 2nd half, but that was not because of Sam. The running game was nonexistent in the second half for like 5 yards. This definitely impacted the passing game. We also had problems with the receivers not getting open. It seems like they run make their cuts and act like they don't know what to do when they aren't open. I don't know what people want Sam to do. If he sits in the pocket waiting for someone to get open people complain that he doesn't make decisions fast enough. If he takes off, which he hasn't done a ton this year, people complain that he doesn't look downfield to find his receivers.

The offense obviously has problems, but quarterback is not one of them.

No way you even consider benching SR this early in the year. He is a Senior, captain, and the unquestioned leader of the offense among the rest of the players. I understand some of the apathy towards him but you can't tell me benching him this early in year would help the team.

I'm only slightly joking here but why not roll the dice with Dom De Lira?
He's supposed to be a Mangino guy. Chances are this staff won't be around next year. Burn that redshirt and see what the kid can do.

I've seen enough of SR tuck and trying to run. Rohach has had enough time to win the starting job and can't do it.

If a chance is made, I think you have to do it against Texas Tech. Home vs TCU and then on the road @ Baylor can't be a kid's first starts.
