Gathers was allowed to do what he pleased down in the paint once a shot was up. But overall, horrendous rebounding performance by ISU.
We need to start getting rough down low. We had a guy named Hogue last year that would fight it out. To bad we dont have a guy like that now.
Agreed. IDGAF if it means we have someone come off the bench, shove a guy on his ***, and then go sit down again, can someone please play physical on our team?
I would say Naz and Niang shot us back in the game. I won't get too hung up on the road games because we won't get the calls plain and simple. They will be destroyed in Ames and Gathers will be fouled out.
We also have a guy named Edozie who is raw but one of the toughest players in the country who won't back down.
Should have played edozie? Problem is can't play him when we are down 12 because we need offense.

I saw Niang come out of a timeout and tell the ref that he is just putting his hands straight up in the air, but Gathers never got called for lots of shoving and pushing with his body.
Cherry pushed off on Morris almost as bad as Jordan pushing off Byron Russell to beat the Jazz.

If the refs are going to let a 275 lb guy walk right through you and not allow you your position on the court, there isn't much you can do about it.
I don't know why I'm so mad about the push off. It's not like the refs would ever get that called correctly anyways. Win today and we had a decent shot at starting the year off 8-0 in conference play.
i asked this in the game thread. why couldn't edzoie get in there, push gathers around, get a few fouls but rough gathers up, and then sit down again? gathers walked all over our guys down low.
