I thought in watching sections back that the officials really have to be consistent. The hand check foul is much less disruptive at the mid range then someone simple putting the 280 lb frame into your back and simply pushing you out of the way. IMO Baylor was going over the back a lot, the rebound by Motley and tipin with like 1:47 left he didn't even have his face to the basket and was simply trying to clear space for Gaithers. IMO these acts are deliberate by Drew in that he saw that these fouls were not being called and simply told his players to crash the boards at all cost until they get called….
The clear out was a totally blown call again ironically against Iowa State in the closing seconds of a game. If thats Texas or Kansas they get that call.
These last two games we've been beaten up and mugged on the road. I only hope that when we're playing at home, that they call it the way we want the game played. But i won't bet the farm on it.
Still very impressed the way the players fought their way back into the game. We could have easily been blown out in that game and getting Jones and Long shooting confidence will bode well for our future.
Lastly - i would really like to know the strategy going into that play. I'm not sure - but, i think the intent was that George was to dribble and press a gap of two defenders. If they collapse then kick to the shooter for open look. If they don't collapse then continue to the free throw line and shoot. He pressed the gap and it collapsed. However, it looked as if Jones was supposed to drift with him so that he could pass it parallel instead of behind him and Jones simply went to three point line and stopped. That would have been a tough pass in triple coverage. Had he drifted to with george towards the corner, george could have seen that he was wide open and i believe would have made that shot!
Improve on a few more things guys, very impressed with the game and the fight. They're turning the corner and getting better and that will help us when it matters in March instead of January.
