I know its not popular to post positives on a letdown loss like today, but I sure enjoyed watching Purdy's runs today. He refused to go down. Also stepped up or avoided sacks on numerous occasions to give us some huge first downs on completions and/or runs. I realize your quarterback running isn't always an ideal situation but I just want to give Brock credit and praise considering some of the heat he took on here earlier in the season. Hindsight does no good, but I sure wish after he basically got us down near the goal line on the second to last drive, that he faked the handoff to Breece and ran it in himself. Just think he did all he could do to help us win that game. As did many others, but we just couldn't stop WV. 31 points should have been enough.

He was pretty good today, even with the protection issues. He took a lot of hits trying to carry the offense on the last few drives.

our o line just isnt anything better than mediocre at best. People were so excited this year about it, but i think we've just gotten so used to horrificly bad o-line play that "almost mediocre potential" over-excited us.

Purdy put the team on his shoulders more times than he should have. OL did him no favors.

You know it was a **** show when Special Teams was the best performing unit. Sans Dunn punt. Wtf were the coaches thinking letting him see the field.

Purdy did what he reasonably could today. Not much throwing can be done against 7/8 guy drops if your receivers can't create space or find holes.

You saw the opposite of that with skilled WRs that WVU had, making contested catches and beating our defenders in space.

We should aspire to be mediocre at this point. We’re not. Imagine the seasons Purdy could have had with something resembling a serviceable O line.

The o line being bad is the reason we have purdy as a starter today--purdy could extend the play when protection instantly failed.

The o line being bad also inadvertantly made Montgomery look even more incredible. He always had to break tackles before he even hit the damn line of scrimmage.

Contrary to popular belief, he is the best qb ever in Iowa State Cyclones history.
I've been a season ticket holder long enough to know this.
I mean anyone who says he isn't is crazy. Seneca at his best is in the conversation, but Purdy takes the top spot easily in my opinion.

Brock was excellent, it’s odd how the offense struggles at times yet he plays so dang good.

I appreciate the effort and fire that Purdy played with at the end of the game. Unfortunately not all of his teammates followed his lead. There are times that I wish that the coaching staff would get out of his way and let his competitive nature come out more. Do we really need to have a coach follow him around on the sidelines all game long? He is a senior with a ton of experience. How is he going to fire up the offense when he has a personal escort following him around trying to keep him calm?

i believe if we swapped just seneca and purdy, that would be an interesting test. Maybe with these tools Wallace could have done more, but we'll never know.

Really cant feel bad for him though as he had a nice long run as an nfl backup (sweet gig). Sadly, unlike chase daniels, he actually had to play some games lol.

Our offense is a lot more multiple when he’s a run threat. We should like, do it all of the time. I think it feeds his intensity and focus as well.

Huh! Seems like something our OC should be made aware of. Could you please write him a kindly worded letter? :jimlad:

Loss not on him. Wasn't his fault the line couldn't block, receivers couldn't separate, and the defense couldn't stop WVU.

Purdy would be the starter regardless of the quality of the offensive line.
