Purdy's day

Purdy made a ton of plays today, especially with his legs.

The pass defense was laughable. Didn't cover short, didn't cover long.

They dropped 8 a bunch and still had pressure all day. That is a completely impossible situation for a QB and he still made a ton of plays. OL was a disaster. They have been ok this year but that was a mess today.

Said in the game thread--a few plays could have had the Yakkity Sax song playing. Players running all over, into one another, etc.

This one is on the coaching staff - preparation and calling on both side of the ball.

We should aspire to be mediocre at this point. We’re not. Imagine the seasons Purdy could have had with something resembling a serviceable O line.
I'd think this of Campbell wasn't consistently bringing in the bets recruiting classes we've ever had. Our future is still bright.

Purdy’s ability to avoid the rush while still looking downfield is an instinct that sets him apart from QB’s with stronger arms. Opposing D coordinators have adjusted to the 3 lineman rush. We never tried sending a LB & it was 5 blocking 3 and sometimes 6 on 3. Doege had all day and was able to heave it downfield. I was surprised our D did not adjust at Half. The 3-3-5 pass D was exposed several games ago & if Campbell & Co can’t adjust I suspect we will finish 7-5.

ISU brought pressure a fair amount in the 2nd half and usually got burned. Some easy 7-8 yard slants.
