Property Access for Tree Removal

Well, he got the whole thing cut down, finished about an hour ago. He left about eight foot of the trunk still standing. He says that he's going to have a tree carver come in and carve the trunk into a flying eagle statute. He was cutting that thing down while it was 90 degrees out and blazing sun with no shade on him. I haven't decided whether the guy is a nut or not.

Good to know the job is done and safely! He undoubtedly has the 'country' experience and knew what he was doing, but without the recommended safety equipment is precarious at best. Hopefully it won't catch up with him some day.

I never saw without helmet, ear and eye protection, and gloves. I have but don't always use safety chaps (pants) and my kevlar-toed boots. I hope that doesn't get me some day. But I never go w/o the other.

You guessed it, he's totally "country". Grew up on his family farm in NE Iowa, tried farming it for a while and that didn't work out for him so he went into construction by himself. Does remodeling and repair work on residential and some small commercial buildings. Seems to be doing very well as he's always busy and they keep buying expensive toys.

He has thanked me for cluing him in on some "city" ways, lol. I may have to tell him that growing a good crop of creeping charley is not considered "landscaping" in the city though.

Cut down 5 trees today. DIY. Survived to live another day and increased the firewood pile.
It's what all 'true' men do. Good job!

Five trees though, that is impressive. I cut down 3 very small trees a day or two ago. Getting ready for the bigger ash trees that need to go next.

Damn emerald ash borer!

Isn't it amazing all of the invasives there are now? Almost every area has their prime suspects. I just recently learned that on our 20 acres of woods, the bush honeysuckle didn't used to be here, and are invasive, same with Russian olive, and a bunch of others. Back a 100 years ago I'm told the woods around here didn't have any or much of the common blackberry, which are nasty and full of thorns. Not sure if that is true or not.

I guess there is a purpose for some of these plants and pests. I haven't figured out great ones yet other than to bother us. If we could just get rid of ticks, mosquitos, all invasive plants, bugs and animals, it would be fine by me.

The ONLY thing to carve an 8 ft trunk into is a giant wang.
