It's a slow morning at the office (and i enjoy doing these types of things), so what do you project the starting lineups to look like September 3rd, with more news of transfers coming out?

Give me Ryen instead of DLC.
Luna instead of Waggoner.
Payne as the Nickel.

Jack, Jim, Jose, Coors Light, Cigars, Ruffles and party dip, hot dogs, burgers, bags.

Ohhhh...I misunderstood, I am talking about the game before the game.

Not sure where you are seeing DLC start.
I think Ryen will be starting as the M.

Not sure if Waggoner starts or if someone can beat him out.

I think Payne finds himself a starting spot as well. He had a great spring on all accounts.

Northrup is listed as a LB on the roster. IMO, we will actually be using 5 DB's not a hybrid LB in the secondary as the 5th player. Considering the losses that we have had at LB, it is possible that Northrup could be playing in that LB position. He is up to 205 lbs. now from 191 lbs.

Northrup, Harvey, and Payne are 3 underclass men I'm really excited to see.

Just a couple switches I'd expect to see by the opening kickoff. I don't see Payne not being a starter after all that the staff has had to say about him thus far. Also, not sure how the 4-2-5 will set up as regards the 5th DB...if that will be a true corner type player or a hybrid like Northrup, but I think its going to at least start out with a true 5 DB's. On the OL, I expect and hope that Udeogu can roll right in to a starting spot which would allow Green and Scroggins to provide some depth.

Agree with everything except i think ryen gets the start on offense and payne will on d.

Interesting that we will only have 3 guys on the entire defense over 6'0. Don't know how much this matters, but it is a short lineup.

If DeAndre Payne and Jay Jones aren't starters, I'll believe we have great depth. Looks promising.

Does anyone know if Jay Jones would make a good strong safety? The previous staff had him at OLB I think and the new staff has moved him around quite a bit but I only saw him play corner in the spring game. He's a big body to have at corner--which is nice-- but I'm curious why his natural spot isn't at SS if he's good in coverage.

I feel like I remember reading some report that said they had been testing him out at SS as well during the spring. I may be misremembering though

Give me E Edwards ar Safety(they didn't bring him in as a grad transfer to not start IMO..think Oge might start on Oline..Yea Ryen will def start at the slot but don't look past incoming freshman D Jones(although unlikely). I see us using more double TE sets or TE and H Back than a 3WR look..just a guess and then remove a WR and out in Fernandez at TE or C Allen(Truly think he's going to be a stud)..

Lastly I agree with others in that Payne starts at DB..Guess it will be intersting to see how guys like Thadd Daniels etc do now that they had a spring under them.

So does the M position = slot receiver because I was under the impression that they are different positions and require a different type of player so could see a few different guys rotating in at the 3rd WR spot? Also think that we will see either Luna or Bailey at Leo.

I'd be pretty surprised if Trever Ryen doesn't start at slot receiver. I understand the excitement about Payne but I also find it hard to believe Northrup won't start. I also see Wiltz starting over Tribune.

Also, with some depth in the secondary and lack of depth at linebacker I expect a few formations where the only true linebacker on the field in Harvey. IIRC we did this some last season and at least one game it worked surprisingly well in long down and and distance situations.

Northrup is listed as a LB. Jay Jones is listed as a DB. So why do some keep thinking they play the same position on our 4-2-5 defense?

It appears to me that Northrup is a LB. With the attrition we have had at LB, it is entirely possible that he plays the same position as Brian Mills. Seeley backs up Willie Harvey. McMillen 3rd string behind Seeley. And Marcel Spears behind Northrup at 3rd string. IMO, it kind of has to be that way since we only have 6 scholarship LB's on our roster. 7 scholarship LB's if you count Special Teams ace Jahlas.
