Could someone give a new fan a projected lineup for next year with the incoming recruits and returning kids? What kids that are committed have recommitted and which ones are on the fence or unknowns? I'm trying to learn more about the team so I can start following closer.

clonebb is a troll.

As for your question, the squad's a bit in flux with the coaching change, so it's hard to tell at this point who all will be there.

Didn't look close enough. After the win today, my mind was on bball.

Don't want to speculate on who may or may not leave so I'll throw out a best guess assuming everybody is staying. I'll be shocked if we actually don't lose anybody but just for discussions sake, here goes.

125 - Vega/Gomez
133 - Simmons/Parker/Gomez
141 - Storr/Jennings
149 - Rodriguez/Straw
157 - Diblasi/Straw/Baptista
165 - Breitenbach/Diblasi
174 - Pestano/Coleman
184 - Swalla/Teague/Pestano
197 - Colbray/Harrington
HWT - Gremmel/Colbray/Harrington

Ethan Smith is the recruit we are waiting to hear back on. Probably future 174/184 pounder

It is assumed to Jake Allar of Minnesota is gone. But I would think Dresser would pay him a visit. Future 165 pounder & a need weight

With Boston, Downey, & Nardo gone, some extra money should be available for a transfer or new recruit also

Didn't KD have a165 or 174 recruit highly rated coming to VT next year? Maybe a chance he would switch?

Looks pretty good but Colbray is expected to cut to 184 next season but things could change. Also, Egli (184/197) and Hilleman (174/184) and Marmolejo (125) may be options if we RS all Freshmen. Teague will probably be the main backup at 197 and Nolting at 285. Injuries has really hindered most of these guys development so I could see a few maybe hanging it up if they are tired of rehab.

Can Gomez really be expected to be at 125? Is he wrestling up that much in HS? Thought he had outgrown 125.

Unless Gomez wants to go his first year I'd expect him to shirt. Same with the rest of this years class. KD has time on his side for a year or two anyway to develop our young guys. I'd like to see some weight projections of our depth chart in 2018-19 season.

I would much rather see us build these young men up and get them stronger than have them come in and hold or cut weight for 4-5 years! If you ask me, cutting weight is a losing formula.

That's fair, but it did work pretty well for Mike Moreno. Just a thought, I doubt he actually does it.

Mike Moreno wrestled at 157 as a Freshman and was something like 4-17. He bumped up to 165 as a Soph and had a winning record and was an AA. Good example of bulking up, not worrying about losing weight, and focusing on winning wrestling!

I was referencing the fact that he wrestled at 171 his senior year of high school.

To be clear, I'm not arguing with you. I think guys should wrestle at their best natural weight.

gotch ya...not intending to argue either...I think the fact that he cut his freshman year and wrestled so poorly compared to when bumping to his more natural weight and being successful only highlights the fact that cutting often is counterproductive. I've seen it so often and just get a little defensive when people suggest it. Look at recent years with the mess that we've had with guys cutting weight. On this year's team alone, Boston, Simmons, G Moreno, and Pestano were all hurt by trying to cut. Pestano was a beast last year at full feed and you didn't see near the attack at 165. I just want our S&C coach along with the coaching staff to make good decisions on kids' weights and develop FEASIBLE plans that will help them be successful.

I also agree that Coleman seems like a small 170. Perfect opportunity to redshirt a year and add some good weight!
