Predict who starts at QB.

I think it is 50/50. Might as well plan on playing them both. If we are starting with the wind, play JB the first 2 series. He won't have to make as many decisions, he's more popular with the team and the BU defense will not have their bearings yet. After the first 3 and out or turnover or really bad throw, he comes out and SJ plays the next 2 series. I think SJ would be more effective against the wind, since he throws harder. if our OL can't pass protect or run block, go with SJ, he can scramble and think outside the box better. The sad thing is that it seems like the team cooperates less (nealy, OL) when SJ is in the game - they should not be favoring anyone. I think CPR has made the right call on QB every time. Jantz started last year played great vs EIU, we improved when JB replaced him, SJ moved the ball better in the bowl game, SJ started the season strong again this year, we improved again when JB replaced him at TCU. If you look at the stats this year (and the last 2 games), there is no reason to say that JB is clearly better. If both guys screw up, might as well play SR. BU's defense can smell blood in the water, so they will be stacking the box. The score may also dictate who plays, if we're ahead play JB to burn the clock; if we're behind play SJ for more of a vertical game.

And, what is your side of this wager. Perhaps we should meet up for brats and buds on your account if I am correct.
I could maybe wager some high quality weiners. nathans/hebrew national, and some brats and buns perhaps. no kraut though. weirdos.

Didn't read thread but going to put my prediction as follows: Jantz and JB both see time (Jantz starts and throws 2 picks). Richardson only sees garbage time if any, and people on this board are still PO'ed after the game for Richardson not getting more time and the offense being...well, same old same old.

The corners struggle to tackle for them so I expect us to run a bunch of screens this weekend. I think we go with who is getting the ball to the receivers best which would be Jantz. He has the stronger arm and does better when he doesn't have to read a defense. I will say Jantz with Richardson as backup.

I sure would like to see our receivers help the QB more. We hear lots about their bad throws, but they don't get much help a lot of the time. Horne is the only one who looked good last week. Everybody else needs to do much more to get in position to make catches and fight for the ball . . . not just put their hands out as if asking for the ball to be thrown perfectly.

Getting Lenz back will help whoever does get the start. My prediction: Barnett will get the start. Richardson will enter in if that doesn't work out.

After watching the replays of the K-State and O-State games, I'm feeling better about Barnett. He made some bad throws, but also some really good ones (mostly to Horne). I'm more concerned about receivers not helping him. For instance, Young stood out to me. He needs to make catches if the ball is near him. All season, he has seemed to have trouble getting positioned and fighting for the ball. Other guys also seem to be just running patterns and not making much effort to catch the ball if it isn't perfectly thrown, as if it is just practice and okay to wait for the next one.

I think Steele will start because he gives ISU the best chance to win. The Baylor defense as a whole is not very good, but they are horrible at pass defense and that is where ISU needs to attack if they hope to keep up. It is going to take 30+ points to beat Baylor unless they just explode with TOs. I do not see ISU moving the ball on the ground even against Baylor. The run game is broken, for whatever reason, and it will not suddenly get great, even against a bad defense. ISU might be able to get some rushing yards, but it is going to take a serious amount of point to win this game and 135 yards of rushing isn't going to get it done.

I got to watch some practice for some quality time from the new FOF today. I'm not going to give any indication as I would hate to give any help to BU lurkers.

It was REALLY cool. I was told I could share my pics after the weekend. Tomorrow is the donor ribbon cutting I believe. Got to have Yancy show us the equipment that he designed. Amazing place. Great guy!

I know, why tell this if I don't share the info? Cause I want to share my awesome evening and don't want it in it's own thread.

I rewatched the K-State game, and afterwards I feel less better about Barnett then I did before, which wasn't high to begin with. Seemed he had plenty of time to throw and there were a lot of throws that receivers had to adjust to even try and catch. And those last two drives were even worse than the first time I watched it.

On the last drive of the K-State game: Young goes low for a pass it looks like he could have caught, then Young drops one that might have been tipped by the defender, Barnett scrambles for 5, and West/Johnson both act like they thought the other was going to try for it.

Jantz will see the field before Sam Richardson whether its as the starter or first off the bench. The zone read just needs to be called a lot less with him on the field. Barnett could be successful if we had James White, but if White doesn't play we need a QB who can throw the ball.

this QB competition each week is ridiculous.

1) We are playing Baylor, who has one of the most prolific offenses in the Big 12. We need a QB that is going to match them with points. Do you think switching QBs every week is going to help that?

2) Stick with one guy and go with him the whole season. I'm sure the players feel the same way. Look, if Jantz is the best player, play him and don't sit his *** when he makes mistakes. It's too late in the season to be having QB changes.

3) The QBs know that if they **** up once that they will likely get pulled. Sometimes the best thing is too just go play and not worry about what will happen when you get to the sidelines. Have the QB learn from his mistakes and move on.

Either Rhoads or Messingham need to address why we still have this QB stuff happening late in the year. That is what 2 a days and training camps are for. It's getting to a point where it's beyond annoying.

To summarize,Ride or die with a QB...not rotate because it does the team no good to have this go on.

I would be surprised if it wasn't Steele that started. This is not based on my own opinions.
