Potential Transfers '14

I'm not sure why we're going after Bowers? He's supposedly one of the top JUCO's in the nation, but he looks more like a half court player to me versus a fast paced guy. Plus he ate a bag of weed too when pulled over by police.

It's not that he wouldn't have a chance to be good for us, I just think Fred can do better, that's all.

Email Pollard. He's the jag-off that gave Fred a raise.

It's not difficult to see how useful an impactful rebounder would be for next year's team. And I have no idea where you're getting the half-court versus fast-paced analysis.

How is this related to JP at all? I don't see the connection.

I said that I thought Bowers could be a good player for us, I just think Fred can do better IMO.

If Fred has his choice basically between 5-8 guys, I don't think I'd personally take Bowers. That's a big IF though. Maybe Fred won't have that many choices, I don't know? If Fred can't be picky, then yes you'd take Bowers I'm sure and be happy with it.

If Bowers, on a scale of 1-10, is about an 8, which is still REALLY good, but you can get 2 or 3 guys that are 9 or 10's, then why not. That's all I'm saying.

Question: would we want him more if he had been simply caught with the weed rather than trying to eat it? I kinda think trying to eat it makes him more edgy.

Meh, that'd be like saying that a high school prospect who got released from his LOI due to a coach change is in between a high school recruit and a transfer. He still has the same eligibility and isn't subject to transfer rules and is therefore different than a transfer who was previously enrolled in a 4 year university. A semantical and rather pointless distinction to be had I suppose.
I agree, but I normally only care about immediate eligible or or redshirt. I tossed Bowers in to include everyone that has reported contact/interest. It is not many, surprisingly. Would love to see Cole Huff get added to that list.

clonedude, who do we have on our roster that is 6'7" 250 and is an elite rebounder? Bowers is by some accounts the top juco. McKay is not eligible first semester. It is obvious why we are going after him.

No. Just the fact that he's been in some previous trouble, I think that gives him a bit of a downgrade as opposed to someone else that hasn't and is just as good of a prospect, that's all.

Kane never had run ins with the law at Marshall. He just got some technical fouls, and that's about it. Supposedly he didn't get along the greatest with some of his teammates, but as it turns out, I think that was their problem not Kane's. Seems like there's some issues with that Marshall program with Kareem Canty now wanting to get out of there too.

In terms of basketball, getting in trouble with teammates is much worse than pot.

The amount of good post player with that size that are eligible to play next year is not big, and the demand is very high. There should be no question as to why we are after him and would be thrilled if he even made it to campus for a visit.

Fred recruited CB out of High School so he must think his game would fit well in the Hoiball system. It is pretty obvious from the targets that Fred would like a post player added, probably in anticipation of McKay not being eligible until the Spring semester. Added benifit is he would be immediately eligible and play for 2 years unlike a couple of the other posts that there is intrest in. Not to mention he is rated the top JC prospect, it makes a lot of sense to start recruiting again.

Curious who people would prefer to commit than Bowers?

Got caught with pot? Forget about recruiting him, throw him in jail and throw away the key. Instead he should have gotten drunker than a skunk (which is totally socially acceptable) just like those Veishea rioters. Imagine if all those Veishea rioters would have been smoking pot instead of consuming all that alcohol, can you imagine the damage that would have occurred? Ames could have been on a red alert due to a city wide doritos shortage.

Better than jamming it up his ***.
