Potential Transfers '14

Yeah, how does that go down if you have to recruit against ISU...can you bad-mouth them and have ANY credibility since they were your former employer? "Yeah, I used to work with those guys in Ames, but I got tired of winning and wanted a challenge."

I love TJ, but that can't be a fun spot to be in as a recruiter.
Got tired of playing against ku refs you mean?

You just tell the guy that Ames sucks and Seattle is awesome and you like it so much better there...

He's going to be laid up for awhile with the surgery, so he might like an area with a little more to do other than basketball and class.

And we can say "Do you want to join a sinking ship that ended around .500 last year, or join us for a Final Four run?"

Then you tell him if ISU had made the Final 4 this year, Fred would already be gone to the NBA and who's to say it won't happen next year while you're sitting out. :jimlad:

Easy- Fred.
You say, "exactly, do you want to come use your last two years getting ready playing for a chance at the NBA by playing for an NBA level coach, or do you want to base your choice on some downtime activities?"

2nd tier guy IMO. 3 star recruit, under 4 PPG. Could be great but more risk involved than some others we are looking at.

Agreed. I really don't remember him but his stat line is less than impressive. Seems like a true center who is offensively challenged. Not sure that's a great fit, however since he's immediate, he's probably worth more than banking a scholarship if it comes to that.

He could at least fill in the front court when McKay is sitting.

Yeah I'm sure he has some talent if Michigan took him.

Like what? I would love to get Bowers, but Horford is far less risky. He is the low risk, size we need next year. If we are lucky enough to get BDJ, we need a supporting cast big, as BDJ, Georges, and Nader will need shots. Naz and Thomas also use shots to make their biggest impact.

Risk that he isn't good at basketball.

I have a hard time thinking that a guy like Horford would transfer out of Michigan for anything but a chance to get some serious PT in his final year of eligibility. ISU isn't going to fill that need for him.

A 1-yr guy is fairly low risk if Fred likes what he sees. If he sucks, it's not a huge loss, unlike a HS kid who ties up a scholarship for at least 2-3 years.

Yeah of course. That's why I said he is a tier 2 guy. Tier one is the BC guy or BDJ or maybe a guy like Antoine Mason if he actually transfers.

Tier 1 is a guy who has proven he can play and is immediately eligible.
