What do we do if we miss on transfers that would actually make a contribution? Does Fred just bank the scholly knowing that we've already got the talent to compete next year? Or would he rather bring someone in for a year to practice against?
What if the one and done guy you can get would be competing for PT with SDW and not MM, Naz, or Thomas, but you could get a Kane level redshirt and one guy?If you can get a one and done guy there is no reason to bank a sholly.
I'm more interested in if Carlino can guard anybody than if he can create his own shot.
Thomas couldnt guard a gallon of milk...sooooo.....that's one of the reasons why I'm interested if he can guard.
I go back and forth....I think a seasoned guard with Carlinos ability would be a nice presence given we will be still pretty young in the backcourt. But i also dont want to take minutes from Naz either.
Oh...and theres that little thing of having any idea if hes even interested in coming here.

The biggest need is a play-making combo guard (1/2), which BDJ would fill. He is also long and athletic enough he could guard elite wings that may give Long, Thomas, Hogue and Nader trouble. He has All-Big 12 ability. Carlino would also fill that need for a combo guard, but he is not going to be an All-Big 12 player, although there is less risk imo.I think Dejean-Jones fits ISU's needs much better, and I think ISU needs another big/wing that can shoot from outside to compensate for possibly not having McKay for the first semester, and to deepen the front court in case of injury. I think it is important for ISU's bigs to shoot the 3 under Fred's system. It opens up everything else. Fred and his team can adapt to not having that, but let's face it, the offense is more efficient with it.
That at 5'10" 165 and needing to redshirt, we will pass. What are your thoughts on Maurice Watson Jr., Sophmore transfer out of Boston University?

I am sure he can, but it will not be at ISU.This kid can ball despite those less than impressive variables. But I don't think we're one of those schools who's in need of a transfer PG. If he did happen to come here he and Man Man would both be juniors. It's not gonna happen.
They don't need a pg with Morris and Custer.
I think they only take one graduate transfer at most but I could see them using both on transfers that have to sit out.
