Let's fire up the 'ole consensus polls and see how we do this year.

Campbell and staff are always ultra conservative early in the season and like to game manage. If ISU gets a a couple touchdown lead they will look to run clock. SEMO +33.

This. Also, I could see some game 1 mistakes, and playing time for young guys too.

Unless the defense scores a couple times it will 37 - 10 or something like that.

I feel like the low-level opponent is strategic and they will want to get reps with depth to assess what they have on the offense. We pushed the ball downfield on KU up 20/30+ that got an audible "huh" from the announcers.

If they can, I believe they will run up the score. From what I can tell, this is way more UNLV/UL Monroe than Louisiana/UNI

No way we cover based on our history of starting slow to open the season. Under Campbell our season openers:

Beat UNI by 6
Lost to LA by 17
Beat UNI in 3 OT by 3
SDSU - game got canceled due to storm. Proceeded to lose to Iowa 13-3 next week
Beat UNI by 18
Lost to UNI by 5

I agree with this. Opponent has more to do with the score than whether it's the 1st game of the season or 3rd.

Until this staff shows that we can take these kind of team behind the woodshed I'll take the other team and the points everytime.

See Dave's post above. SEMO is <<<<<<< than LA or UNI, and it's not close. Just because historically Campbell's blowouts haven't come in game 1, doesn't mean they don't happen. I think even the backups will score against this team & keep them out of the endzone - I'm taking ISU to cover. Only thing I see working against it is the former assistant on the other sideline - we won't be aggressive 2nd half, but I still think we'll score anyway.

Think we win by a lot here. Not entirely sure it's almost 5 TDs 'a lot', but I'll take that for this poll. This is not remotely close to a high quality team coming to play us.

Even if we stormed out the gates and got up big, Campbell isn't going to keep pouring it on. I feel more confident we'd be up 33 at some point in the game than I am that we'll win by 33. And I'm not confident in either of those things. Like 5% confident at most not confident.
