Political Threads

I'm sorry but I completely agree with Urbclone, this is the one place where I don't have to hear or read about any election brew ha ha. The last thing I want to do is come home after seeing it in the paper and on tv, and then it is on Cyclone Fanatic. Its like getting in to take a bath and have someone tell you its time to shovel snow in 20 below weather. (Best analogy I could do on short notice)

Yes there is a time and place for politics but just not in the middle of sports sports relaxation therapy.

If anything could we just move those threads off of the main page?
 
blah blah blah, politics bad, blah, blah, blah, and another bump to the top

(for a topic some want outlawed - its the hottest one of the afternoon)
 
People, just don't open the thread then! It's so simple because the thread says "Iowa Politics". You have a choice! Just like if I saw a thread named "Life-sized Antonio Banderas blowup doll with realistic genetalia", I wouldn't open it. And that'd be the end of it...simple stuff.
 
Like others have said...it's a fairly simple concept...if you don't want to read the Political Threads then don't click on them.

If the words "Political Thread" or "Iowa Politics" can't even appear on your computer screen, then I don't know what to say. :no6xn:

Theres a reason we have an off-topic forum, and if you dont want to read it, dont open it. I love politics! No offense to anyone here, but ignorance about politics is what is killing our country. In the grand scheme of things, what is sports? I dont mind that much about people not wanting to talk about politics, but when you try to discourage religion:no6xn: . Really?

How was he/she discouraging religion? You think CF is a great place to tell people about your religious views? I sure don't. Also, simply choosing not to discuss politics and holding true to your personal views is not ignorant. It is ignorant to think that this 'political game' our country is playing is not having some sort of negative effects.

I enjoy politics too and have very strong opinions and viewpoints. I also agree with your comment that ignorance of politics is killing this country and would take it even a step further and say that most Americans could use a basic course in Macroeconomics. There is a time and place for everything but a sports forum like this is, IMHO, not the place. I'm sure there are many like me who don't want to weed through this crap on the front page when we log in.
 
Ignorance about politics is not killing this country, in all honesty ignorance about politics will help save this country from the road it's going down. Supporting a system, that for a large part is just mudslinging ads every 30 seconds on TV will only encourage the behavior. As of right now, sports is 50x more important to me than politics is.
 
no one makes you read political threads, that's WHY this site has it broken down (and very well compared to other i might add) you can go straight to talking about just basketball, or just football, or off-topic, etc. no ones MAKES u read the political threads.

Politics began with the cavemen who vied for their favorite cavewoman. Your time machine would have to go way back.

well put, what i love about CF is people talk about whatever is on their minds. If you dont wanna talk politics, simply don't click on the threads!

While I don't always understand where you're coming from, you're a board asset in that you provide insight from angles most of us have never considered! That and you're often funny in a Geico kind of way...
