So my two years is up with Dish this month - I'm considering "cutting the cord" so to speak and going w/ Playstation Vue.

From what I can tell, their "Elite Slim" package should be great for sports fans - comes w/ BTN, all the Fox Sports channels, SEC Network, & ESPN/2/U/News. It also has all the channels my wife would want, primarily the terrible shows on Bravo & E.

The only thing that sucks is that I'll have to get an OTA tuner for local channels, but I guess I know that going in. I've got plenty of bandwidth through Mediacom to handle the video, so I'm just looking for opinions from anyone that has used the service - happy w/ it? Any regrets?

Sounds like their cloud DVR is a nice feature as well.

They have a 1 week free trial so you can test out the service. I thought it worked very well, much better than when I demoed Sling.tv, the PSVue I don't think ever had to buffer that I remembered, and the quality was good overall. Using a PS3 was a bit sluggish at times, but my PS4 had no problems and worked great.

How does DVR work? Do they have a whole house DVR option? If you do make the change, please come back and update with your experience.

Everything is cloud based...save a show...or favorite a series.

Just a disclaimer...you cannot just take your Amazon fire or playstation with you and hope to get tv wherever you get a signal...it latches on to your IP and you can only use it from one location. that being said...i like it. Just remember to shut it off when you leave or you will run out of data like i did with mediacom after coming home 5 days later with it running constantly.

That 29.99 option seems to have pretty much what channels I watch now.
Of course I would need to make the initial investment in a PS4

I actually canceled my DirecTV contract early and switched to PSVue. The only problem I had with it in the first month is on Mediacom's end. The internet seems to go out when I fire up the Vue having to reset the modem, and I used just about all my bandwith with about six days left in the month. PSVue has been difficult to navigate early on, but nothing getting the Playstation remote so I don't have to use the controller won't fix.

If you wanted it just for the PSVue, it also works on PS3 so you wouldn't have to spend as much on a system.

I have Mediacom for internet and didn't even realize there was a monthly bandwidth limitation - can you buy that away or are you just capped to a certain amount regardless?

The higher the speed the higher the bandwidth cap.

Also, I've read 60 FPS picture is only available on PS4 - I've only got a PS3, so I'd need to buy a PS4 to get 60 FPS picture - how many FPS is my current Dish video feed? Would I notice a difference between Dish picture quality and 30 FPS Playstation Vue?

Thinking about getting this as well in the next couple of months.

Two issues that if anyone knew the answers to I would love

- Is TV quality acceptable? Is it choppy? For example, ESPN3 and Cy.tv occasionally will go from having great video quality to blurry and crappy.

- The HD option is not available yet, is it?

I have 50MB down mediacom connection and used Vue on a Fire TV for March Madness streaming. It worked very, very well. Great picture quality, minimal buffering streaming all day long, etc. This was while streaming from multiple devices to multiple screens to see every game.

I used to use Sling - but don't think I'll be going back. Sling seemed to buffer more frequently and the app isn't organized very well.

What I like about these services is that I can buy them during football and basketball season and then drop them during the summer when I don't watch much TV. No questions asked, no phone calls.

Couple that with the OTA tuner for xbox one and upcoming DVR features and I'm set!

OK this seems to have solved my gripe about sling not having the Fox channels for B12 football. Are any of you Cubs fans and able to see CSN games?

Here's my other question, according to the FCC website, I'm 68 miles from the towers for OTA channels, which rates the signal as "weak". Will I be able to get the channels if that's the case? I see I can get a 70 mile antenna on Amazon, so I'd be cutting it close.

Yeah I get CSN and CSN+ which is awesome. Been using Vue for around a month now and for the 35 I pay per month, I'm happy enough. Had some issues getting the right zip set up initially (had me in Pennsylvania for some reason) but got it taken care of reasonably quick. I have some buffering and picture quality issues at times but our internet is to blame for that. I'd definitely recommend it. Even if you have some issues which some people definitely have, you can't beat that price!
