Percy Harvin now a Seahawk

Slot receivers are a dime a dozen. Harvin was not. Harvin was the silver dollar of slot receivers. He is a complete stud and worth 2x any other slot. The slot is a luxury, a #1 is basically a necessity.

He still wasn't a prototypical outside guy. I was agreeing with what you said. He's not just a slot receiver and replacing him will be hard. Patterson is the closest thing in this draft.

Easiest way to develop a QB is put weapons around him and a solid line in front of him.

Rodgers was still riding the bench at this time in his career. And he still had another year left of riding the bench. And his first year starting was not stellar. It just takes time.

Only true if you have a young QB worth trying to develop. At this point, I'm convinced only that the Vikes have a young QB. Worth developing and building around? Maybe, maybe not. I'm still leaning towards not.

He was also behind a Hall of Fame QB as well.

I know it takes time, but getting weapons around him may speed up his development.

Agreed. The point is that even with tons of WR weapons and the opportunity to sit 3 years on the bench and develop and learn from a HOF QB, and he was still 6-11 in his first year. Ponder still has a lot of time left to prove himself IMO especially with the WRs the Vikings have given him.

Recieving a first round pick minimum is a win for the Vikings. The GM wants to build through the draft and now witb two first round picks and 11 total they have some firepower.Wide reciever will surely be a priority come april as will defense.Percy Harvin is a dynamic player when heal thy and motivated. Will seattle get both heal thy and motivated Harvin? Maybe, the storyline for our trip to seattle just got interesting.

I've got faith that Minnesota's front office will do well in the draft. Spielman, on the whole, has been very good when it comes to drafting. Love to see them exit the first round with someone like Keenan Allen and maybe Sylvester Williams.

I applaud the Seahawks for making this trade. They have such a strong defense that they must feel a player like Harvin just might put them in contention for it all next year. Why not...you don't get too many chances in the NFL so go for it when you can.

I do think the Vikings can promote this as a "win" as well so both teams have reasons to feel good about this trade.

In a perfect world, Harvin would play for the Vikings and he wouldn't have all his off the field drama. The Vikings can't possibly get even value on a trade, but they had to trade him and in that situation they couldn't have gotten more out of it. It's a win win IMO.

Also, I wouldn't mind tendering Victor Cruz with one of the Vikings 1st rounders and then taking BPA in the first.

Considering the Vikings thoughts on Wright, I don't think they take a slot WR.

Yeah, I underestimated Pete Carroll. He and the other decision makers in Seattle certainly haven't been afraid to make some bold moves, and they've paid off.

Looks like Boldin to the 49ers.

Awesome. They could use a playmaker slotty guy too though. I was hoping they would land Harvin but they don't seem to be interested in giving up picks. This draft has been touted as deep and they need is depth but I thought they would really be aggressive.

for a 6th round pick, it sounds like. That seems pretty low, but then again he's pretty old and has a hefty cap number

i still think this was a better trade than the Harvin deal. Getting a proven WR for a late, late pick is better than getting a kinda proven WR for multiple picks. Vikings are overall winners.
