Penn State Coaching search guesses.

Absolutely not, you get rid of the program for two years, it's going to take a decade to get it back. You're also shorting your athletic dept out of about $60M so it's going to affect every other sport too.

You clean house, bring in a completely new staff and you'll be shocked at how fast this will blow over. This is going to kill their recruiting for this year and probably next year, but Penn St is a top ten job in the coach. Even if no big name coach wants it now, there will be lots of coaches who do. These types of jobs don't come open very often, regardless of the circumstances. Some coach is going to see this as his chance to get an elite job, if he can survive the next two years, Penn St can be back to normal by year three.

PSU will take 20 years to fully recover from this. The civil damages alone will be in the $100s miilion. This issue is sickening!

Why would Urban Meyer come back? He left Florida where he didn't even have to recruit, kids were throwing themselves to play there. His health isn't great and i think he likes the ESPN job.

Dan Mullen is an interesting name, he will never win at Miss St while playing in the SEC west. I think he is a solid coach and has experience coaching all over the country.

Kirk and Pat will not leave another B1G team to go to PSU.

Penn St just needs a two or three year stopgap hire now. Wait until this scandal dies down and then they can go for a big name hire.

This. I don't see a big name wanting to come in. It was always going to be very tough to follow Paterno. That's certainly not improved over the past week, we'll put it that way.

This is why I think Dungy gets a call. You need a high character guy, and I think he could be a short term solution. Perhaps you even bring in a young coach to be molded into his replacement.

He is most likely not a good fit for PSU but I was watching the Va Tech game last night and wondered? Why is Bud Foster (Va Tech D Coach) not mentioned in some of these coaching searches? Is he waiting for Beamer's spot?

...won't be Ferentz. I could careless if he goes to the pros, or another major college program. He will never make more money if he leaves Iowa.

He could make more, but they would expect more too. If KF didn't get to coach in the Big whatever it is, he would not have such a great record and not appear to be so attractive. He would be a complete idiot to leave $4 million a year and a schedule that includes 5 teams that would routinely struggle in the MAC. Of course one of those teams is ISU.

some of us forget to take into account that he has accomplished a lot considering he coaches in the state of IOWA. that is the reason he is paid the way he is, because it's harder to recruit and do well at a place like the state of iowa. if he were in a bigger market, he would surely get more high profile recruits, and would do well there also. i agree that he is probably overpaid, but i also believe that he is a quality coach and the UofI is lucky to have him. this statement goes for iowa and iowa state fans.

I will be surprised if Al Golden is not the PSU coach next year

Props. Al Golden is my guess as well. I was talking with one of the local ESPN radio guys here in DFW Wednesday night and he's convinced from talking to people across NCAA it'll be Al.
