Who will they call first. My guess is in this order.

Bill Cowher- Great coach, Loved in the state. No nonsense guy who is respected.
Kirk Ferentz-They won't get him

50. Paul Rhodes.

Any other names out their?

I'm not sure how attractive the PSU coaching gig is? Ohio State will also be open and OSU will be a more attractive to the top candidate.

I think they will look for someone that has no ties to Penn State. No former assistants or players and will try to start over completely so I don't see them going after Al Golden.

Penn St just needs a two or three year stopgap hire now. Wait until this scandal dies down and then they can go for a big name hire.

Some people thought the OSU job was walking into a mess.

The Penn State job is 1000 times messier than the Ohio State job now, with or without NCAA sanctions.

They will bring in some sacrificial goat no name coach for a couple years, and then fire him when they don't get the number of wins they expect. After that they will be in the market for a big time coach.

This. Couldn't believe Ken Miller thinks it will be Golden. No way in **** PSU gets another connected to Paterno. Also no one will a great resume will touch this job.

I think they get some young guy looking to skip a few rungs, or an old coach looking for his last job with no connection to Paterno.

Maybe a recently fired NFL guy.

The more I think about it, big picture, Penn State is better off suspending the football program for a year or two. With no gap the public perception will linger indefinitely.

It's not even about justice, I think ten years from now, PSU will be better off if they imposed their own 2 year suspension than if they don't miss a game. It's in their own self interest.

The next 5 years aren't going to be pretty no matter what, better for them to spend two years not having a program, then 3-6 years rebuilding with a clean conscience.
