Seriously? Why? Its one friggen moment, not a pattern.
Yep...and it was a good decision! Just didn't work out...

Seriously? Why? Its one friggen moment, not a pattern.
The fact is that last plays get FAR FAR too much intention. It is human instinct. It is what gets set in our mental memory. We see the last play. But really, how many plays really cost us that game? There are probably 10 or more you could name. And how many GREAT plays got is in to a position to even be in OT. Each play can't stand alone. Even if it is the last one.
You just dont know how this will affect in the long run when making a similar decision.Seriously? Why? Its one friggen moment, not a pattern.
Im just wondering if this will affect Rhoads going forward? In terms of decision making?
Fumble
Interception
Another interception
Missed FG
Another missed FG
Dropped pass by Reynolds on 3rd down late in the game (led to a missed FG)
Dropped pass/slightly overthrown ball to Darks on the sideline (IIRC, we punted next play)
Fumble by NU that we didn't get
Another fumble by NU that we didn't get
Allowing a TD in OT, especially 2 plays in
That's 10 without even thinking that hard.
I don't think he's defensive per se, but I think he's just standing behind Kuehl and showing confidence in his holder, maybe like trying to take some of the heat off him.
CPR comes off a little over defensive in his response.
Did anyone else notice that the long snapper seemed to be having trouble on all the field goal attempts Saturday? It seemed like Kuehl had to dig every one out of the dirt.

I was thinking the same thing
To you, me or the general public, CPR might seem a little defensive. But, if you look at it from Kuehl's point of view, Rhoads is standing up for his players no matter what! As a player, I'd guess Kuehl really appreciates his coach for that kind of statment, which makes the players only want to work that much harder to be successful next time!
I think from a player motivational factor, the response is dead on!

Look at cyclone6785 post history, and you will see where he is coming from.

Solid quote from Coach Rhoads on Daniel Kuehl. A reporter asked Rhoads how Kuehl was doing emotionally after Saturday's game.
“You mean Daniel Kuehl, the same guy who ran a fake field goal perfectly early in the season as our backup punter and the holder who took that fake field goal right to the last second, drew all of the UNI defenders in and pitched it at the perfect time to allow us to move the first down chains and score a touchdown against UNI? Daniel Kuehl is doing pretty good. He’ll do a nice job of holding again this week and if I ask him to run a fake, I bet he goes out and executes it perfectly.â€
