Pancakes or waffles?

Pancakes range from 1-10, low floor, high ceiling. Waffles range from 5-8, the safer bet. Even the 'make your own waffle' at a hotel continental breakfast is pretty good. Pancakes can be airy/crispy/greasy all at once, or they can be dry and inedible.

My grandma's pancakes as a kid were about the best thing I ever ate.

French toast the way my momma taught me...one egg, half cup flour and full cup of milk, blended. Dip half slices of bread until coated then fry in a couple inches of oil on medium high heat, turning once. Drain on paper towels. SO good!

That is almost identical to our family recipe. Frying it in the oil, not just frying it in a little butter in a skillet!

Momma was born in NOLA, grew up in Houston. I think it's a southern thing. I remember ordering French toast in a restaurant for the first time as a child, and wondering why they brought me this soggy eggy slice of bread.

Never understood the egg part. Ive always had it without the egg wash, just used milk. Pretty good, but a good waffle still beats it imo
