It's easy to say violence should never be condoned. However, if someone humiliated your wife on national TV because of a health issue she's suffering from, you might feel differently.
That's a reach. Society isn't kind to anyone balding, certainly not from alopecia. I know two young males that got it in their 20's and the mental health issues it facilitated tanked their lives.
Chris Rock went from looking like a real a-hole to looking like a calm collected adult in the situation in a matter of seconds thanks to Will Smith.
What career? Honest question...he's not doing much lately that's noteworthy. Anyway, there's talk of the academy taking back Smith's Oscar already.Probably did more damage to Chris Rock's career though.
I do wonder what kind of review happens for jokes at these things. You'd think most of it would get run by someone other than Chris.
I seriously hated how that went down. Always been ok with Will Smith, never been a huge fan just because I don't generally like the movies he's made, but never had a problem with him. Tonight's action was pretty gross. Then I read that his wife's hair situation is medical and has been the cause of serious anxiety for her. So I get Will's action. Just unfortunate all around because it took away from the rest of the night which featured some amazing performances. Glad CODA won.Flip him off or something if you can’t be a real man and take the high road. You don’t need to physically be violent towards anyone.
Now all you manly men out there can tell me what a wussy I am and how you’d have beaten the sh*t out him.
I don't get his reaction of violence. I get his reaction of being pissed as fuckk for sure.I seriously hated how that went down. He's going to get one of the bigger paychecks he's had in a while over this. As for jokes, I would bet Rock didn't even write that joke. All shows like this have writers.Probably did more damage to Chris Rock's career though.

What Smith did was assault. I get defending your family and loved ones. But a reaction of literally violence on live TV? Oof. He honestly could have just yelled what he yelled at Rock after he hit him and gotten his point across. Or when he won the Oscar used that time to focus on defending your wife and loved ones and make Rock feel small in that moment.
“Love will make you do crazy things.” is what Smith said in his acceptance speech. Cringeworthy. How many women that have been a victim of domestic abuse have heard that before? I am NOT saying Smith does that...but just a really really tone deaf comment. What a mess.
Disagree. He won’t be charged.
If kids choose violence tomorrow, it’s not going to be because Will Smith slapped Chris rock at the oscarsHow many kids get suspended from school tomorrow for violence, because of these angry millionaires?
Right? Like some 8 year old was sitting around watching an award show, saw the incident, and THAT was the catalyst that caused them to get in a fight the next dayIf kids choose violence tomorrow, it’s not going to be because Will Smith slapped Chris rock at the oscars
I think it is pretty easy to acknowledge the primary double standard is in how assault was treated.I think its pretty easy to see that its much, much worse for women on average when they go bald.
That’s pretty much true everywhere. Pressing charges isn’t really a thing, the state makes that call.
