It’s amazing what they’ve done with legacies and local fans. If Fran could actually recruit outside of that circle, they might have something. As it is, those fans are just frustrated by the ceiling that’s on their team due to having too many slow white guys.
I don't know the kid at all but there are still some people and families for whom money isn't everything.Emptied the We Will collective and they told Blum he had to work for free.
What’s great about all of those comments by the Hawks is TJ has accomplished more in one season than Fran has in 12 (with the exception of winning the league tourney but since ISU has done that how many times since Fran arrived at Iowa, not that big of a deal). These comments explain why Iowa basketball is where it is- their fan base really doesn’t get how Bigboy ball works anymore- they’re stuck in 1989 thinking the same methods work. Portal??- head in the sand, hope it goes away. NIL- will be great to see how that plays out over there in the next 5 years.
I suppose you could say their fans don’t deserve Fran- he has found his niche with legacy recruits and the whole 100 mile recruiting base thing, and does good with the offensive talent he has, but without guarding every possession and keeping the ball out of the paint, Iowa will never be built for a March run. And the reality is, and this is what gets their fan base more than anything, who else are they going to get? They see themselves right up there with the Big 10 elite and since the mid-90’s, they really haven’t been that. It’s not a Michigan, MSU, Purdue, or even Wisconsin type of job anymore.
UNI with out of control ego?Super local team, running the same system forever so its easy to plug and play guys and athleticism/recruiting doesn't matter as much.
They are basically peak UNI, but in the Big10. The only thing missing is Ali Farokmanesh, and actually winning a game that matters.

It's a sore subject and obviously they play different positions but I see it a bit like Hunters impact, just on the back end. It's hard to imagine just how disruptive an athlete of his caliber will be in TJ's system.

I don't venture to those cesspools usually, but did today after your post. Some funny **** there. Now talking about flexible academic standards to get players in. HahaLets drink some Hawk tears:
“Maybe his dream is to contend for an NIT bid.” TDJ7
“So isu will continue to try and win games scoring 44 points. Sounds so “exciting”.” HerkyFan
“Not even close to a top 5 class” HawkOn17
“Good get but a big question is, Will this kid be on their roster at this time next year?” IsaacHarrison
“Am I reading correctly that this upcoming season will be his 4th different high school in four years?” MitchLL
Totally agree. I can't wait to see it.It's hard to imagine just how disruptive an athlete of his caliber will be in TJ's system.
The crazy part is he'll be defensively dynamic from the get go.Totally agree. I can't wait to see it.
Yep, and even if they do value the money, there's an argument to be made for investing your time in a program that can build your skills and work ethic, and make you even more valuable in the near future.I don't know the kid at all but there are still some people and families for whom money isn't everything.
