I'd also be concerned as to why a coach doesn't understand why a light bill may change from month to month.
That "coach" is the Assistant AD for football operations! And "Barney" is Asst AD for high school and Jr College athletes! That text exchange should have just torched the program!
We might be watching an "SMU rerun". Program down and out. Maybe we can pick up some 4 and 5 star transfers.
I'm wondering what kind of burden of proof there is in something like this. I mean obviously, his account is hacked; I'd assume someone skilled enough to do that would be skilled enough to forget this stuff too right? I'm seeing a lot of ado about nothing....

There's no way. I'm not one to freak out about the NCAA being corrupt, but if this ends up being all their evidence, they won't see a too terrible penalty.
I'd be surprised if they even get a bowl ban, unless some more crazy **** comes out.

I wonder how many other players Barney and the other coaches/assistant AD's had "agreements" with. This guy wasn't the only one, you can be damn sure of that. If the NCAA were to actually start turning over some rocks (haha, yeah right) they could probably find the evidence of money changing hands that they need to bring the hammer down on a lesser program.
