Oklahoma Dual

No, they haven't. This year is the first year in some time I can remember the team taking a step back. That being said, the season isn't over.

However, it's clear to me you and the rest of the Loser Brigade have been rooting for the coach's failure (and by extension, the team's) for at least several years, if not longer. Our performance in duals this year has actually been subpar. I hope you're satisfied.
I've never hoped for his failure, all that's being asked is for someone else to be the coach now because it's clear he has lost the team.

I'm alright w/ it. Maybe it will motivate some.

Thank you. All the politically correct snow flakes like to tip toe around the subject, rather than call it what it is. You think KJ accomplished what he did without heart and grit? You think that man isn't ashamed and embarrassed of these guys? You can't teach grit, heart, desire, pride, toughness, motivation, an obsession with winning, etc. Some people just aren't born with it, and he seems to have a bunch of them on his squad. Honestly, I feel sorry for the guy. PD3's junior league Golden Ring Panthers were tougher than this crew. They are soft.

Buf is just about the most loyal an ISU fan that you can find, at least the way I've seen it anyway. I've never seen him say anything negative about your son on any board and he's one of the few guys who has stuck by KJ the last couple of years

I never said 'Buf' said anything about my son; did I? I said, "you guys". SMH

Wow doubled down on it. Do you understand that it's different for a fan to say what you're saying as a parent of a wrestler? Both are wrong to attack a college kid but it's another level coming from you.

It's on the coaches to get the wrestlers motivated. They teach them to own it and if they're not then they haven't done their job.

p.s. Rotert is ranked #5...just like Boyd...only bigger and stronger and better. He just beat last years Big 12 champ last week.

"about Downey's treatment"? Really? Did any of them break a rib? Have any of them made scratch weight, only to then bump up? Are any of them undefeated? How many of them will qualify for nationals? So he was pulled last night to allow his sprained ankle to heal? You did see what Powell did to their 71st ranked 184lb'er; right? "Downey's treatment"...lay off the Kool-Aid, pal. Downey has more heart and grit than this entire team combined. This team has no heart!

Dude, relax. I said I really doubt it's Downey's decision. Deep down, I would think PD3 himself is wondering about his 'treatment'. If he's the competitor I think he is, I'm sure he wants to be out there competing and leading this team by example.

Ohio State lost the dual to Iowa last night because Snyder is in Russia competing at a freestyle event. Do you think Tom Ryan would have been okay with that if the regular season mattered? All he cares about, and all Snyder cares about, is Big Tens and NCAAs.

Sure...but this is an Olympic, World, and returning NCAA champ who won one of the toughest tourneys in the world yesterday and can pretty much be penciled in for another NCAA championship. Some allowances can be made for a guy like that.

Congrats. Another duck job or did he get kicked off the team?

What a JOKE

Please never let Dudleys name come out of your mouth again.

One might also ask why "your boy" didn't take the mat today against Jackson...

I don't know. Ask Manning. May be because My boy already handled Jackson easily at Midlands or did you forget that?

Who did you team captain wrestle? Oh that's right, he ducked Dudley more than once, ducked Midlands, ducked Brooks and now the last chance he had to wrestle anyone ranked he ducked again.

Congrats. Keep supporting the kid that refers these matches as practice matches when the rest of the team at least goes out and tries. But don't worry, he will shoot his mouth off again on twitter with no conscious that his own coach is about to be fired.

I for one agree with you. As coach, KJ can't control everything and it's just not possible to instill those types of traits into a wrestler.... you're either born with them or you're not. I don't follow ISU wrestling all that closely but it's my understanding that this team may be missing some of those qualities you mention above.

Grit, heart, toughness and determination? From what I hear, one of the teams top wrestlers rarely sees the mat. Instead of wrestling through nagging injuries for the good of the team, he'd rather take days off unless it's against inferior opponents. Like I said, I don't follow them that closely or even know who the wrestler is but if that's true, what's KJ to do? You also speak of motivation. I'm told there's a member of the team that doesn't particularly care what happens until those post season tourneys come around. Tells the fans to stay home as if duals mean nothing. If the kid can't be motivated until the post season, should the blame really go to KJ? where's this kids desire and that obsession for winning that you speak of?

As for pride, I'll disagree and feel having too much of that could actually be a bad thing. I've heard rumors that one member of the team has so much pride that he's played around on social media talking as if he's one of the sports all time greats. Also heard one of his family members posts on these forums making the same claims and apparently has no trouble alienating his teammates as if they are not worthy to be on the same team. Again, if any of this is true then I just shake my head in disbelief.

So yes, you make some valid points and some of the others here should try to understand what you are trying to convey. Sounds like some of those boys are missing quite a few intangibles to be successful. As for that last comment, I'll say that's probably unfair to the team and it's wrestlers. I'm sure even those junior league Golden Ring Panthers had a few that just weren't motivated to succeed. Ok, maybe not a few but I'd bet the house they had at least ONE that maybe didn't possess those traits you say are missing from this years squad. No doubt the coach of those Golden Ring Panthers had to deal with that same type of wrestler that doesn't have the entire package and one KJ deals with on a daily basis.

You should get with NEICyFan, who has also shown a propensity for making up stuff about who's posting on the internet, and see if you two can make up even more stuff.

I'm hardly the only one that was suspicious of that. A pattern has been established. It adds up.

Never have rooted against anyone. Just want to win more and do it the right way. It was clear to me early on he wasn't the guy for the job. In this case I was right.

I don't question the athletes heart, grit, toughness or whatever you want to call it. The entire roster is not 'soft'. It's repugnant to suggest that. This isn't the first time we've seen this. There is clearly something else going on.

Even if that were the case, the coaching staff are the ones responsible for who is on the team, they do the recruiting. No need to feel sorry for the coaches.

I don't claim to have the answers but my take would be that there is a harmful culture around the program. I don't know how else to explain the lack of aggression, fatigue, and overall struggles we've seen by good wrestlers.

I can think of one in particular.

This is either the best troll job I've ever seen or perhaps the most ironic attempt to agree with another poster in the history of this site. I'd probably put my money on the former but wouldn't rule out the latter.

Phenomenal troll job. A brilliant combination of sincerity and smartassery, to make everyone pause to read a second time, thinking, "Did I just read what I thought I read? " Yet, the offending party is going, "Hell, yea!!!"
