Or, up 30-0 with an inexperienced offense at the skill positions, maybe it was more important to give others key experience for when the season begins to grind.Offense wasn’t any good. I don’t agree with letting off peddle like what was done in the second half. With so many new faces, more in game reps are needed, not less. Would like them to get use to scoring touchdowns, not getting comfortable going 3 and out.
But the improved special teams will be the difference in some of these one possession games and will likely be the difference in going to bowl game vs staying home at the end of the season.
Well that is why they are all in on pissing on ISU football season because basketball is going to be a hoot. Could be a really long year for them if football builds on the progress this week. You have to remember there a segment of CFers struggled when ISU made an NCAA tourney the last two years.
We went vanilla from the first play of the game.I must have been watching a different game because I thought our offense looked very good. We had over 100 yards rushing against a good team. We didn't have many negative yardage plays. Our quarterbacks looked good. Our receivers caught the ball. You people are looking at the stat sheet instead of the scoreboard. Once we got the solid lead in the third quarter, we went very vanilla on offense. I don't see anything wrong with that. This year's offense is way better than last year. I think the teams are pretty even next week and the game will be won in the margins.
Special teams = BDefense gets an A.
Special Teams gets an A.
Offense.... C-. Not because of players but just not impressed with the play calling. It felt like a Tom Manning game. A lot of duplicate play calls and 2 drives...we did nothing. even including a 20 yard short field scoer. We had 10 plays for 158 on our two scores....
We then had 35 plays for 98 yards. That's not even 3 yards and a cloud of dust.
All I know for sure is whatever the point spread is next week I'm going under. I don't know that Iowa and Iowa State will combine for 30 points.
It looks like itll be another great defensive and ST battle

Why would we open up the playbook against a terrible UNI when we have Iowa coming up?Defense gets an A.

2 out of 11 on 3rd down. Same as last year. Very poor.Pathetic take.
New OC, New QB, New backs, new receivers.
Showed with 2 drives in middle of game they could take it over.
Did plenty to win and then some.
Did they set the world on fire, of course not.
Maybe it was all the turnovers that reminded you of last year?
Punter averaged 53.6 yards and Becht had a 200 QB rating. No turnovers, didn't make an ass of themselves, didn't show Iowa anything because the game was over early. Perfect day for the offense.
It's consistent with what CMC has done since he's been here. I don't know why people are still surprised.I really hope those who contend we “went vanilla” offensively are right. From what I have heard leading up to this game, I have a real hard time believing it, but I sincerely hope y’all are right.
Not true. We very nearly picked up a first down after two successive holding calls. We went vanilla from the first play of the game.
It’s not “surprise”, FWIW.It's consistent with what CMC has done since he's been here. I don't know why people are still surprised.

What did you hear?
Why would ISU open it up and press with such an inexperienced team and a 30-0 lead?
The offense is a project. 30-0 lead is great and all, but don’t pretend it was the offense that did that. What did you hear?
