***Official UNI @ Iowa State Prediction Thread***

If Richardson led our offense to a 51-23 victory at Kansas last year, I see no reason why he can't lead another offensive explosion at home against a down UNI team. Especially with the additional practice time he's had since last year. Sure, UNI should not be brushed aside, but I'm going to say ISU wins 45-20.

If the score is as close as some of you think, It'll be a longgggg down-time until the Iowa game on this board. I predict at least 5 meltdown threads.

Conversely, if we do blow them out, I predict at least one "National title here we come" threads.

Have you guys learned anything about playing UNI?

33-21, ISU. But that's with a late TD that makes it look better than it was. I hate this game so much. If we're going to play an FCS team, we should play one that A) sucks and B) brings no emotional intangibles to the table. UNI is one of the best squads in the FCS and they are full of guys who either grew up Iowa fans and probably still root for the Hawks (and therefore want to slaughter ISU) or are peeved that they didn't get a look from ISU (and therefore want to slaughter ISU).

I want no part of that whatsoever.

Since I have no other basis for a score prediction, I'll just average the result of the past 10 matchups (rounded to nearest whole number, of course!):

Iowa State 23, UNI 15

I understand the FCS success and intrastate emotion aspect with UNI, so we probably can't expect frequent blowouts as the series continues.

But in the Rhoads-changing-the-culture context, ISU-UNI has to be more of a formality. Build a 24-point lead in the first half/early second half, develop some rhythm with the starting unit, be able to rest key players and get playing time for backups.

I can handle a 31-17 game that "should been" something like 35-10. Those 20-19/17-10 barnburners (even worse, losses) need to become extremely rare.

ISU 42- UNI 10. See explanation in position analysis thread. Following week UNI 42- Drake 10.

I completely agree.

Since ISU has a buy week before the hawks - i think they are going to try to get as much prep work in as they can with the new offense which will result in a lot of points. I see ISU 45 UNI 13

I'm fine if its a little closer than it should be as long as we can stay extremely vanilla so as to show anything. It would be nice to come out put a couple of quick td's on the board and play D. If its close AND we have to open the playbook then I'll worry.

One other thing, last time we played them we had a Juco qb starting his 1st game and multiple players out if I'm not mistaken.
