***Official Post Game Thread***

The end of McD's quote is very concerning.

When a player is gone for almost an entire week during the season, I guess I was assuming that said player and head coach would have daily phone conversations (if not more frequent) about his situation, his family, and certainly all the details about when he's expected back, how he's getting back, etc.
This is bizarre.

The team did lose but they did play with fire and showed agression. The D was good for the most part. Once again stupid turnover are what changed the game. This team has to learn how to play hard for the whole game. They have to get the mindset that they can play through a bad play. Once again a go to gaurd that can hit a key run breaking shot was missing.

Hats off to Ham he has really been playing well of late. He just needs to go to the hoop stronger.

I am surprised we score as many points as we do considering we spend half of each possesion standing with the ball 35' from the basket. Can we not run our plays b/c KU is denying us that much or b/c we settle for what they give us which isn't much?

I don't want to bash Ham to bad b/c he can play hard, but if you think Ham is going to be a force the next couple years I would disagree. I hope he can avg about 8 pts and 6 rebounds. That isn't too impressive for your starting center.

There was no way we were winning that game with only 7 players.

I agree. No way.

It should be noted that the previous coach who we fired won their against a #2 team with 6 or 7 players playing (cant remember if we used Neal that game).

Our guys couldnt get open. Hell half the time they were falling down. KU did a masterfull job of fighting through screens.

So you dont think he is gong to get any better?

Bizarre and concerning. Perhaps it is a small glimpse into the lack of personal connection between coach and player that has resulted in the loss of several decent players in recent years. I'm sure Greg is annoyed, but there has to be a better way of handling a situation like this.

GMac has sure had a lot of bad luck with players getting hurt or leaving, but at some point you have to say do you really want a coach with bad luck?

Great post.

Either Gmac has done a bad job at ISU or he is the most unlucky coach in the world. We can't afford to have the most unlucky coach in the world as our head coach.

By the way, in listening to the radio broadcast, I heard John mention that DG had something like 13 free throw attempts in conference play so far this year. I haven't checked the stats on that yet, but damn. Think about that. Even without counting tonight's game, our starting point guard has had 13 free throw attempts in 9 conference games. Less than 1.5 per game. Games will not be won consistently in ANY conference with that kind of production from a point guard.

Doesn't the fact that the timeout was followed by the run continuing prove that a timeout doesn't magically stop a run?

The emphasis given to timeouts by some fans baffles me.

Good coaching during timeouts can stop runs though.

I have said this before. Either really bad luck or the results are starting to build tradition.

not going to beat a team like Kansas with seven players. Oh well get used to it I guess. Got to get better on not letting teams go on big runs.

Well, Wayne Morgan (who was fired) beat #2 Kansas in Lawrence. So did the coach before him, twice. So it can happen. Just have to point that out.

I was happy with the effort today, we played pretty well. Its pretty clear we have given up hope for Gmac to achieve what our previous coaches were able to.

Yes they sure did but this KU team is very very good. Self is one hell of a coach and recuriter. You dont win 55 in a row at home by mistake.
