***Official NIU @ ISU Post Game Thread***

Really disappointed with the offensive line tonight. It's going to be very hard for AA and Arob to thrive this year if they don't improve. Thought the dbacks played well, linebackers ok and the defensive line was as to be expected.
How good did our wideouts look though? That was great to see. On any given play there were at least 2 guys open which is a major change from last year. Just need Arnaud to be able to look at more than one.

The receivers will give him an opportunity to find them. They made that clear tonight.

All i can say is the HOK homers (tavernhawks) were out tonight, thanks god they left in 3rd qtr. A**hole c**ksuckers yelling from across the bar when we had one of our few mishaps. "hey lets go wear our hok clothes and talk ***** even though we dont play and have no backing on our program this year besides the preseason polls!" ya ya d**k nuggets!

my only issue tonight was we didnt throw anything down field, no long passes. we will have too in order to win games, other than that the D was great!

I agree with most of the comments here. AA was mostly good accept for some stupid forced passes int he center of the field . I think he will get better in the future games. The things I was most disappointed with was the tackles. Guys would hit them in negative territory and they would gain 7 yards. All in all a positive game. I think the D will show up in the Red zone and I think the O will carie us!

Go Clones! I love ISU!!!

I don't know, Arnaud stared down his receiver a couple of times and it cost him, but it looked to me like he did a pretty good job with his progessions most of the night. I think people are picking up a couple of instances in the 40 times he dropped back to pass and are blowing things out of proportion.

Did we get an attendence? The Jack looked pretty full on t.v.

Most Impressed with
Sedrick Johnson- Arnaud has a weapon if he can get some decent balls to him.
Jake Knott- The only LB that seemed to have a feel for the ball, and where it was going.
Zac Sandvig-Hope he moves over and takes O Connells spot. O Connell has so little explosiveness it is scary every time the ball goes up.

Needs Work
DE- Neal played well, but basically no pressure all night, and poor edge maintenance. The discipline needs to improve.
Matt Taufou- He is no Jesse Smith. Lets the play come to him, instead of making it, and this has to change.
Punter-What the hell is he doing? Brandtner is already being missed.

I'm not as down on our lines as some on this board. We weren't playing UNI. NIU is a good team and Chad Spann, their RB, may just play in the NFL. NIU more than held their own against Big 10 teams last year (280 yards rushing vs. Purdue...only 156 tonight). Our D-line didn't get much penetration, but the NIU QB was so much more of a runner than a passer that I don't think pressuring him was a great idea. He wasn't making great plays with his arm when he was in the pocket.

Others have said it, but I was shocked by the number of missed tackles tonight. I would bet that CPR addresses that in practice this week.

Am I the only one that saw the potential this team has tonight? I understand I'm a a half cup full type of guy, but seriously, this could have easily been a 40 point blowout with some tweeks.

I felt that ISU could move the ball at will had they wanted to. I was shocked that ISU brought back Dan McCarney as honorary offensive coordinator in the second half.

We need to learn that playing it safe and kicking a field goal on 4th down is NOT a bad play.... Too many times we tried to force the issue instead of letting the game work itself out.. Great win vs. no slouch of an opponent.. AA needs to learn to throw to the check downs on 3rd and long and live with 4 and out.. Someone once told me you have to risk it to get the biscuit, but we need wins not a biscuit..

Man, I thought Arnaud could have hit him about 3 more times in the game.

I noticed him with a step in the seam down the middle at least 5 times. Thought they might hit it more in second half after making adjustments but I was wrong. Pleasantly surprised with defense. Running game was pathetic, minus a-robs run and Arnauds called back touchdown. Wish we could put our damn foots on the opponents throat like we had a big chance to do in the late stages of second quarter. Always has been a problem though

Knott get the game ball (if they do something like that).

I would go with Lamaak if I could only pick one...excellent reach on the LB to spring A-Rob.

I like Knott...but ISU LB's really aggressive on run reads..play action could be deadly until they get more experience.
