***Official NIU @ ISU Post Game Thread***

Wanna see more from big play WR

But I love any and all ISU victories. Happy to have one in the books to start the year.

The cyclones have to be the most improved team in the nation next week against the Iowa Hawkeyes in order to have a chance to beat them.

Defense was better than I expected. Jake Knott is the new Jesse Smith. He is going to be great! I can't wait to get Sims back! Our DL has some improving to do, we need to get pressure on the QB!!
Our offense was great in the first half. We were moving the ball at will. AA cannot be throwing into triple coverage! WR's did great when they calmed down, especially Sed Johnson. Arob's 63 yard run was SWEET!!! Too bad he couldn't hit the century mark..
Special teams needs some work. We can't be missing field goals (i know it was the first of the season, but still) And our Punter needs to punt more than 18 yds...
Wayyyyy too many penalties!

Overall, we won!!!!!!!!! We are 1-0!!!

Good to get a win. Now we have a few things to work on to get ready for the Squawks. Cut out the stupid penalties (illegal formation, punching opponents), make better decisions when throwing the ball, and keep up the good work moving the chains. Might have half a chance...

We need to play mistake free next week. I will say this though the D played leaps and bounds better than they thought

Face it - YOU WISH Stanzi could go 27/36 for 265 and 14 carries for 45 yards and a TD. If that's lackluster, I'd love to know what your adjective for Stanzi is.

Lol, Stanzi? When did he play today? You think this kind of performance will hold up against the nonsense schedule we have this year? It's irresponsible to think that we played a flawless game today, because AA didn't, at all.

If Iowa loses their first game would you still say that? We have yet to see Iowa play this year so how can you compare? I'm not saying that Iowa will lose but it is foolishness to assume that ISU has to be the "most improved team in the nation" when no one really knows how Iowa is going to play this year.

It's a win and I'm happy. We looked pretty darn good in the first half but fell off for a while in the second half.

We need a four quarter great effort next week to have a shot. If we have stupid mistakes and penalties and are up and down, we'll be in trouble

Clones have to learn how to close......3rd qtr the D was on the field way to long.....can't do that next week...

I like the win. Plenty of "coaching moments" in the film. I think alot of improvement will happen between week 1 and week 2, especially with the extra couple days. Our defense will be better with Sims back, just because it adds depth, and gives guys a chance for a break if the other team gets a long drive going. Did we end up +1 or even on turnovers? Offense needs to be consistent. We need to take more advantage of the opportunities we get, and stop making stupid plays and penalties. Perhaps there was a decision by the coaches to not open the WR playbook as much as we could have, to keep some surprises in store for the future.

He played 13 or so games last year - pick one...

That's a great win no matter how you slice it. NIU is a good football team, and ISU had their way with them for all but the 3rd quarter.

Can't say enough about Burnham and the defensive staff and players. That was impressive with the youth out there.

ARob is ARob. Sed showed flashes of what the coaches have been talking about. AA was brilliant at times, and his positives certainly outweigh the mistakes.
