I would expect most coaches to talk up players when asked about them. Doesn’t mean people expected it to turn out like it did.
I’m not going to read through all those.. but people said this is huge and a Good get read a few pages and didn’t see anything. Back then people were going crazy over any grad transfer we got. Holdens or that other guy type busts hadn’t happened yet.
Based on this scrimmage, if we play Lard 40 minutes a game he'll average 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 blocked shots. I'd settle for that.
