Official Missouri Post Game Thread

Yup, kinda ties his hands behind his back so to speak.

Good to see the excuse makers are back in full force. I think we have hit all of them tonight, stupid fans, stupid players, stupid facilities, stupid injuries, and stupid fate.

Now we have added stupid Ames, and stupid university.

Good job out of all of you this evening,

How is fighting APR issues an excuse you have a problem with?

+1

There's a lot of blame to go around, but did anyone else think that Garrett's turnover with about 6 minutes left was the key of the game? It was one of the first chances ISU had to take the lead, and Garrett was doing nothing but dribbling himself into a corner. As good as Garrett was in the first half, he can't ever seem to put together a solid game for 40 minutes.

That was huge and I was ******. It was a freshman move.

Just like in other sports, you can't fire all the players so ...

When he finds a magical pot of gold...or a big donor steps up with buyout money and then even way more to hire a high caliber coach.

I get the gist of what I will read tonight (ie Mac sucks, he has to go, no effort etc), but at some point don't guys NEED to make layups/dunks on their own - or is that Mac's fault as well.

I know this season is in the crapper, but we played tonight with 7 players, 2 of which are post players, a guy with mono and a guy who wasn't even in our top 11 to start the year and almost won at Mizzou (how many home games have they lost in 3 years?).

I know MU played like crap, but no reason that couldn't have been a little bit about us?? As I have already read - well ya, but Baylor plays with 7 and so and so plays with 8. BUT THEY HAVE MORE OPTIONS. We have NO other scholarship players. We played tonight without 4 of our top 10 players when the season started (and 3 of the top 7). Baylor is playing with all 7 of their top players - big difference.

The other thing I keep reading is who else would do this with two NBA guys. We have a 20-30 first rounder in CB and a possible 2nd rounder in MG. Not like we have 2 lottery picks. I'm sure Carolina has 8 potential NBA players but they are struggling as well.

I know it is easy to throw Mac under the bus, but save a game or two this team keeps playing and keeps games close, they just can't get over the hump which is frustrating to all of us. I just wish people would at least think a little before all blame for everything goes on Mac's head.

Obviously Mac doesn't miss shots and defensive assignments, but how many more seasons of losing basketball are you people (Mac supporters) willing to sit through? 4 in a row sucks. How is this progress? How is this better than what he had? NEWSFLASH: It's NOT! At what point are you willing to hold Mac accountable? Obviously this year isn't it. How about next year when we win 14 games? Will you still be in his corner then? The year after that? Do some of you folks like McDermott so much that you're willing to support him no matter how bad ISU Basketball is?

All serious questions.

Well it has a lot to do with a lot of other schools having APR issues, and they don't have to bring it up four years later. When does it stop being an excuse?

It also has to do with the fact that all of the turnover in Mac's program has had as much impact on these issues as anything that came before.

No, I won't be happy and I'm not happy. But what do you want me to say? If I said "fire him" would you be happy?

I see a problem that transcends the coach. It's a problem with the program. We've been in a rut for almost a decade and I don't know what will fix it.

Didn't mac say that they couldn't go after players that were academic risks ala Jacob Pullen, instead they had to take guys that would keep the GPA up?

Uh, I doubt the team GPA is very high. Who on the team is going to raise it? We only had two players on the Big 12 all-academic team last year (meaning B average or above), and they're both gone - Haluska and Thompson.

Okay, but we were one of the WORST with the APR thing.

I've been criticizing Mac as of late, and tonight wasn't on Mac. His job was to put us in a position to win, and he did that. We make layups and free throws, we blow Missouri out.
Chris Colvin: 1-12
Scott Christopherson: 0-3
DG missed a couple easy layups.
Team: 2-14 on threes. Inexcusable. We've been the worst 3 point shooting team on the planet since Lucca left. Tells you a lot no matter how much you hate Lucca.

Actually the effort tonight was fine. I still don't understand a lot of what Mac does as far as game strategy, and substitution but oh well.

The problem is that if this team had played this hard all year they would have more wins.

I like the poor us, I just hope these kids can be rewarded schtick that was broken out after the game. That should play pretty well the rest of the season.

But in that spirit, let's hope we continue to play this hard, and some wins come because of it.

Someone will have to offer more factual details but I thought it dealt more with graduation rate and not overall grade.

How do teams like Memphis, K-State, West Virginia, or anywhere a slimball coach has been at, not have to worry about APR like we seem to be???

I won't kill him for not calling at TO at 1:35 mark. Players gotta know the situation. Even the announcers called it right away...get to the hoop and dont' waste time dribbling around.

Yes, I understand the APR. I was responding to the post about Mac not taking academic risks. I certainly do think he's taking academic risks. Start with the JC kids.

Well the problem is that we know what we have with Mac.

What have you seen that makes you think that all of a sudden this will all turn around, and we will be successful? What makes you think we will all of a sudden rebound, stop dribble penetration, or generally play with a high basketball IQ?

A new coach may not be any better, but on the other hand, he could be.

Down to 7 schollies & Dorr - Played very well tonight considering the people we had left!! One question for all you homies - Lets see you do it!!! Hope McD is back next year!! Sorry; but did I see a slight comeback or surge when backups were in tonight??

Nothing, I'm greatly disappointed in this season and what has transpired. I expected better.

BUT...I don't see anything to convince me we can hire a coach that will offer anything more than we have now.
