Official Missouri Post Game Thread

I know this season is in the crapper, but we played tonight with 7 players, 2 of which are post players, a guy with mono and a guy who wasn't even in our top 11 to start the year and almost won at Mizzou (how many home games have they lost in 3 years?).

I know MU played like crap, but no reason that couldn't have been a little bit about us?? As I have already read - well ya, but Baylor plays with 7 and so and so plays with 8. BUT THEY HAVE MORE OPTIONS. We have NO other scholarship players. We played tonight without 4 of our top 10 players when the season started (and 3 of the top 7). Baylor is playing with all 7 of their top players - big difference.

The other thing I keep reading is who else would do this with two NBA guys. We have a 20-30 first rounder in CB and a possible 2nd rounder in MG. Not like we have 2 lottery picks. I'm sure Carolina has 8 potential NBA players but they are struggling as well.

I know it is easy to throw Mac under the bus, but save a game or two this team keeps playing and keeps games close, they just can't get over the hump which is frustrating to all of us. I just wish people would at least think a little before all blame for everything goes on Mac's head.

I would agree with the folks saying that Buckley should get more time that Scott right now, even if only to keep Scott fresher for the minutes he plays. No way he can provide all he's capable of (even now) playing that many minutes.
 
I'm not sure what you guys expect. They had 6 guys basically. (SC has mono, shouldn't even be out there and Gilstrap is sick apparently) Lots of good looks down the stretch and people kept throwing up bricks. Almost zero chance to win a game with 6 guys against Missouri.

Ive never been more frustrated with a coach then i am with mcdermott...I wish i could personally tell him

If you think that having Colvin who was 1-4 at the time and had already missed some layups, drive to the basket when behind by 1 point is putting the team in a position to win......well.... Or having SC take his first shots of the night from 3 point range in the last three minutes of the game, or having Colvin take one a few seconds later. Or maybe it was having CB and Gilstrap at least 20 feet from the basket that made you think the players were being put in a position to win.

Yeah, if they shoot the ball better the last two games, ISU could have won. That could probably be said about 30-40 per cent of the teams in the country.

What makes many of us think that Mac is a poor coach is that the same old problems have existed, and continue to exist, and there is no progress made. The team is now 24 games into the season, and still are not a good rebounding team, still cannot prevent the other team from driving the lane without fouling, does not play help defense, is not good at free-throw shooting, and cannot finish under the basket on put-backs or drives. Most of the time they do not look like they have a clue as to what they are supposed to be doing offensively. At some point, that falls on the coaching.......especially when the problems continue to exist 24 games into the season.

It's BOTH. If you're an NBA talent guy, carry the team by making good basketball moves/decisions. Don't force up a terrible shot or run around the 3 point, waiting for something to happen. Go post up on the block, demand the damn ball, make a move, and get 2 points or to the line... or both. Like NBA talented guys do...
 
Another guy who defected that we could really use right now: Cameron Lee. I really believe Cameron could be getting 25 minutes per game on this team. He would be so much more effective than Christopherson on both ends of the floor. Did anyone else notice that Christopherson missed about 5 potential rebounds? If ISU's guards help rebound at all, ISU wins this game easily.
 
Yes the team did play hard tonight. But when you lose it always means you couldve played harder. A loss is a loss just like a win is a win. The only time you can say you tried your hardest as a team is when you win.
 
I just watched that stretch where we were down 1 multiple times but never took the lead. We just could not finish or get a good shot. Craig forced it up when he shouldn't have, Colvin misses an ill advised layup (he was too far to the side) and a missed three but CC.

Agreed. We miss at least 5 layups a game. And now we are starting to miss dunks. We also have 4-5 of the most mind-numbing turnovers each game too. That equate to a minimum of 10 more points per game...maybe more.

I don't pin that on Mac. But ultimately it is his team and he is responsible for the wins and losses they produce.

I do pin some of the pesonnel decisions on him though.

There's a lot of blame to go around, but did anyone else think that Garrett's turnover with about 6 minutes left was the key of the game? It was one of the first chances ISU had to take the lead, and Garrett was doing nothing but dribbling himself into a corner. As good as Garrett was in the first half, he can't ever seem to put together a solid game for 40 minutes.
 
Mizzou handed us that game on a silver freaking plater....that was frustrating. I love SC but the kid's got nothing in the tank. He's gotta take a seat. The whole situation is classic ISU basketball...Lucca leaves in the middle of the season and his more than able replacement gets mono of all things...seriously, it's like a comedy.

Eventually someone has to be held accountable for all the misses, turnovers, lack of fire, lack of IQ.... I used that line the first couple of loses... I can't bring myself to say that anymore.

They did play better then I expected "this" game. Although, that doesn't explain how I feel about the other 10 loses this season. Yeah... We lost Lucca, JVB, Booze, Dendy with family, SC with mono, and Gilstrap being sick or knee hurting... We had chances to win... What I'm mad about is the stupid shots, the lack of urgency. We had a chance to win. Yet we didn't look like we wanted it.
