*** OFFICIAL ISU-WVU Postgame Thread ***

Dennis Kilicli, aka "The Turkish Bull", "The Beard", and "The Istan-Bull", is my new favorite collegiate athlete.

This is all I have for critical post game analysis.

P.S. I was cheering for him to give Hinds a left cross when they were jawing each other.

An 18-point lead almost turned into a "bad loss" tonight. The guys just need to learn how to close these games out a little better. Period.

I think they'll figure it out eventually. I just hope my heart is still beating when they do.

Some of the posts on here are a bit ridiculous (usual suspects of course). We got out to a big lead and thought we had this one in the bag, then lost our focus a bit and all of a sudden spacing was poor and we were having a hard time scoring all the while they are throwing everything in from three. Pretty much they got lucky as hell and made 9 threes in the last 6 min, crazy things happen sometimes and thats when you need to find a way to win and we did.

I've never seen a team go 0 for forever and then catch fire like that. They were like 9 of 12 on 3's in the second half.

End of the day we won, and won despite some highly questionable officiating that seemed more interested in evening up their foul numbers than making good calls. We'll have games like that again, especially on the road, so good that we played through that. A time out wouldve been nice while blowing that lead, but we survived.

Home win streak continues.

Lucked out in that one folks. I don't know how we can look so good one game, and so horrible the next?

WV is not a good team. In fact, they are pretty much terrible. No reason this should have come down to this. Yes, they shot out of their minds and the refs tried to screw us over good, but it still shouldn't have come down to the end.

Our guys never really were into this game from the very beginning. I don't know why? VERY lucky to win. We can't play like that against anyone else and expect to win. We've still got a lot of work to do to be a tourney team. We certainly weren't tonight for whatever reason?
I think it is more an intra-game issue. We played very well at times tonight. 10 minutes later we were "off".
I have to laugh at you calling WVU pretty much terrible and stating we cannot play that way against anyone else. WVU is far from terrible, and is ahead of TTU and TCU. Seriously, Huggins is that good of coach...or rather, his style of play is that effective. We were not a tourney team tonight? Winning decides that, and we move forward in that regard. Playing poorly for 20 minutes in one game is only meaningful in regards to making the tournament if you lose.

I am not surprised, or concerned, that they came back from 18 down. Most games have runs, especially when you are not a "grind it out" program. What is concerning is after they cut it to three, we got it back up to 8 with 1:50 to play, and then let them tie it up. A team hitting deep threes with 5+ minutes left is one thing. When you are up 8 with less than 2 minutes, you HAVE to defend the three point line better than that. Just like McGee has to defend the 3P shot better at the end of the KU game.

So the moral of the story is.....................................
Lead killer = 0/12 + 9/12^3point makes - lack of our 100% killer instinct from start to finish/ some other math stuff

Why do you still watch ISU athletics? You are like a walking, talking Cyclone Pessimist stereotype.

We should've won by more of course. But in a close win like this our team will learn more than if they had continued to blow out WV. It was kind of clear that the team was starting to get a little cocky about themselves and this might teach them to come out of the gate firing on all cylinders against all Big 12 teams. Fred will be able to drill these guys at practice about all the offensive rebounds they gave up, playing against strong man to man (it will be tough to find a team that plays better man to man than WV, for the first 10 minutes they were playing in our jerseys), and keeping their foot on the gas. Lots to learn here, but a win is a win (I realize I am the 100th person to say that).

My only question was why did we give up on the zone after the first bit of the 2nd half? It was destroying WV on the defensive end.

It may have been because Huggy went with a different line-up for the remainder of the game.

Everybody is going to remember the heart attack at the end of this game, but what about the odd beginning? No points in the first four minutes? I don't remember that happening in a long time.

McGee had an off night, shooting 1-7 from beyond the arc, and Babb was only 1-5 from deep as well. Niang got in early foul trouble and played only 18 minutes, but had a huge impact when he was in the game.

Ejim had a fantastic game, 16 points and 13 rebounds.

And how about Clyburn's litany of highlight-reel plays around the rim? That's what I'll remember from this game.
