***OFFICIAL: Iowa State @ Texas Game(day) Thread! ***

Not a big deal, but it was probably the most blatant bias I have listened to. The PBP guy was horrible. He sounded like someone they picked up out of a bar at a UT watch party.

Really miss the Big 8. I've never been a fan of the Texas schools in the league. Took us from a Midwestern conference to a whatever you call Texas + leftovers conference.

BTW, the PBP guy - Brad (what a) Sham. For serious.

Super frustrated with everything after today. Feels like everyone is against us achieving success. Refs, commentators, even our own fans giving up now. We need to fight back more. The team lost their fight today, and we as fans need to help them get that back. Hilton had better be vicious and loud next Saturday. The losing streak needs to end with a domination of K-State.

This also explains a lot. From Wikipedia - Brad Sham lives in Dallas, graduated from Mizzou, and was the voice of UT sports back in the '80s.

Hoping this little streak gives me a chance to get some good tickets at a decent price. The wine and cheese glory hunting crowd we had at the KU game made me more mad than any of the losses we've had.

Our guys do have to expect to not get calls on the road. Always expecting contact fouls in the lane is a bad idea on the road. Just concentrate on getting good looks.
I echo the Ned for Vaughn next year. I am not confident in Naz and Thomas to be anything more than role players next season. Monte is a boss and our bigs will be better than they ever have. Vaughn is the missing piece.

I wish Diante or someone would come back and give a motivating speech to these guys. Let them know they are still in the conference race, just gotta stay strong and get back to smart basketball.

I wish Royce White would get another year of eligibility and come back and rebound for us. We just don't have that guy that other teams just retreat from when he's in the area in defensive rebounding situations. We rarely "clear the boards" and it causes us to waste way too much energy.

I usually don't notice the announcers much...but when he made the statement before a break to Long about "straighten up your face" after a foul was called on Long made me sit up and take notice.

This would be Royce's senior season.

We outrebounded them in the 1st half and were tied despite like 10 TO or whatever it was. Outscored by 10 in the 2nd half and while getting beat on the boards and giving up way too many second chance points.

Defensive rebounding is effort and position. We had it in the 1st half and left it in the locker room at halftime.

Just back from the game and I'm not one to really harp on the refs, but they were absolutely awful. It really affected our guys and you could tell how frustrated we were. We never got in the flow.

That's just it. This team doesn't have the horses to out rebound these bigger teams all game. Edozie or Percy have to be on the floor for at least 10 minutes to keep these guys a little fresh.

Just a cop out IMO. The fact is, you don't get as many calls on the road and you have to know that going in and play through it. I didn't think it was all that bad today. The home team got the benefit usually of the close calls, but nothing horrible. We get the benefit big time in Hilton.

In fact, I think our guys are depending WAY too much on getting whistles. They play horrible basketball and expect to get bailed out with a whistle when they flail their arms. And then we like to complain and whine about it too.

Not a way to win games at all.

Honest question. As a fan, have you ever found there to be a game in which the officiating was bad?

Secondly, I'm in slight agreement with you on Kane and expecting a foul. It bugs me about him. Most of our other players, no. Just no.

"They play horrible basketball"? What a Debbie downer.

KU 2013?
Should it not get in our heads that much? Perhaps, but when you sit on the bench because of it, that is a real impact that is unavoidable.

Looking at the box score we played hard. We out rebounded the best rebounding team in our conference on their floor. There were only 6 more personal fouls on ISU. They shot a little better than we did but the % was very close. Same with FTs. They just made 7 more FTs than we made. I was surprised to see we actually hit 3 more 3 ptrs. The big difference was the TO margin of 10, which is something we don't do. When you see that DK had 7 of them, that is the difference. You can whine all you want about officiating and rebounds, but that is not why we lost. We lost because we were careless with the ball, which is uncharacteristic of this team during the 14 wins.

The things that plagued us in the past two losses were fixed coming into today. Guys, settle down, this is a good team. You all thought we were better than we were during the 14 game stretch and think we are worse during this 3-game losing streak. This team has a good attitude and we have a better coach. We get a week to rest, and fix the issues. Saturday will be a tough test, but Hilton should absolutely bring the thunder. We will be back pushing the ball up the court.

I realize this is the type offense we run, but I don't recall us making a single mid-range jumper the whole game. Everything is either a 3 or a lay up. Not sure if this means anything but just something to point out.

That is what Fred wants from his offense. The mid-range jumper is the lowest percentage shot on the court.

Just watched the game on DVR and hadn't followed any comments, but the "foul" on Ejim's putback thunder dunk had to be one of the most bizarre calls I've ever seen. I'm not sure I've ever seen a ref with the gonads to take a play like that off the board.

On the replay it looks like the only contact may have been a Texas player hitting Ejim on the arm, clearly 2 points or an and 1. It was only one play but it was two points taken off the board and Ejim could have used the extra foul since we were asking him to defend a player who looked to be 300 pounds heavier than him.

Just a really bizarre call. The rest of the calls Texas got are just typical home court calls, but my reaction to that one live was just perplexed and the announcers acted like it was the play of the game for ISU at the time because of how awesome it was when it was actually a huge favor for Texas.
