- so 40,600 out of 45,800 in a game wind chill at 22 degrees with a 25-35 mph wind. Name me another team that has that type of percentage of the stadium filled in that weather... NOT TO MENTION they were 6-4 at the time, not 10-0. Not to mention the students were on holiday break.

Iowa in 2013 vs Michigan. Coldest game in Kinnick history. 65,700 of 70,500 (93% of capacity). Iowa wasn't playing for a BigTen division title. That is better than 89% of capacity and 25K more fans than ISU drew for a potential division title. 40,000 for a division title game, pathetic.
Iowa seems to dwarf ISU in football ticket revenue and doesn't have to discount tickets to "young adults". They offer youth tickets to some of the non con games at $20 or $25 but that's it.
How many other programs offer discounted season tickets for "young adults"? If it was such a great idea, I am sure there are several of them doing it.
What makes you think those same folks will continue to shell out the cash if ISU ever raises their tickets to big boy prices? If they aren't going to, you are stuck in this same rut of selling tickets dirt cheap.
The game means a lot to ISU fans so they show up, pretty impressive really and puts those Wisconsin and Nebraska fans to shame.

Yep. The university of Iowa has been spoiled on owning this state since the 80's and 90's when ISU had an administration that couldn't care less we had an athletics department. The tables have turned completely since the mid 2000's. ISU's marketing strategy (of catering to families and young adults) that @YeahBuddy and @HawkeyeMashup have been making fun of is exactly what will cause ISU to surpass Iowa in the next 10-20 years...maybe even sooner. Most Hawk trolls on here probably don't carry a bachelor's degree so they can't figure that out.
Wisconsin fans are too drunk to travel and 1/2 the Nebraska fans sit at home talking about the glory years.
Both have reputations of traveling well. They apparently don't view the Iowa game as a rivalry game and I actually agree with you on that.
I'll give you credit for that game but if we're are nitpicking which seems like you are, our game that year was Thanksgiving weekend. I want to say there would be more students on campus the 2nd last weekend of November than the last weekend of November. Students bring in a good chunk of that attendance.
I love the spin. Pollard wouldn't give discounted tickets if he could sell them for more. He doesn't do that for basketball, heck he forces students to buy football tickets to get BB tickets. You are just trying to polish a turd and say it is some brilliant marketing, when in reality is is selling tickets for cheap because they can't sell the product for more.
Any Clone fan mocking Iowa attendance is an idiot. You guys draw anywhere from 10K-15K less fans per game and you only come that close because you sell your tickets on average for way less than Iowa does.
I wasn't mocking yours, I am defending ours when people say it is crappy. I'll criticize your pathetic secondary but I don't criticize the number of Hawk fans showing up to home games/bowl games.

Look at the product on the field. The fact that fans are willing to pay anything is crazy good. You go undefeated and can't sell out your last game.
Of course he wouldn't. That's basic business. He has to build a foundation of new ISU faithful that was very small in the 80's and 90's (that would now be big time donors and season ticket holders). Iowa had Hayden Fry and they had the state of Iowa on lock so nearly everyone in the state became Hawk fans in that time frame unless you or your family went to ISU. ISU did nothing to try to counter Iowa during that time. It took for the late 90's for ISU to be competitive in the Cy-Hawk game again and the 2000's for Jamie to come to ISU and begin building the new foundation. There is a reason enrollment has surpassed Iowa. There is a reason the Cyclone Club has been increasing donations each year. There is a reason that ISU has been setting school season ticket records and all of it extends beyond wins and losses because ISU has done nothing in that category in several years. Take off the Hawkeye football blinders and see the entire picture and it makes sense.
Basketball is moot. If you have a good team, a 12,000 seat arena is not hard to fill.
