***Official Herbstreit Hate Thread***

Guys like Herbstreit are sentimental, and invested in the “power program” narrative. They not only want their programs on top, they want to keep other programs down, at least appear that way. They get threatened by success at non-traditional programs like ISU. Holt’s Called ISU a Coachjng graveyard, for Walden sure he sucked, but it’s simply not true.

Kirk can’t see the future.

I like Herbstreit, but yes I thought that was odd, and needless to do.

It was a d^ck move by a d^ck. Nothing more. The second the game is over, he's tweeting about the coach being gone as if he unearthed some hidden gem. Then he doubles down on the tweet to Garmin as if it's a done deal. Not to mention just three hours earlier, he picked against ISU and laughed at KiJana Carter for picking them. There's no reason for tweets like that in the middle of the season unless it was just pure embarrassment for picking wrong. What a d^ck.

1. Kirky called Matt "Matty" like CMC is a 3rd grader? Kirky, Coach Campbell is a man he's almost 40 years old. Going forward your name is now Kirky, Cyclone nation will flex it's power and destroy your identity.

2. Why the negativity towards Iowa State? Kirky had the opportunity to take a high road and energize a program. "Congrats to Cyclone Nation, Administration and Coaching staff at Iowa State. They are proof with the right leadership that good things can happen." Or a simple "Look out Big 12 ISU is for real and doing it the right way". "Iowa State is here to stay." "I'll see you in Ames next weekend for gameday!!"

3. Kirky choose to go negative and try and convince other programs to hire away the ISU coaching staff. Which basically says Kirky hopes Iowa State fails.

Anyway does Kirky really care about college football or only the high programs that really don't have to work as hard as the "ISU's" of the word at recruiting? If he cared about college football I'd think he would want ISU to be good and take a positive approach to the program. Lets be honest ISU this year is a good story. Or Mr. Kirky keep your mouth shut.

It's because we are a threat to his cookie cutter idea of college football. He needs to keep us down. If they control the narrative they control who they allow to the table. If they don't control the narrative then they don't have any power.

I've been to college campuses all over the country. ISU is seriously one of the best. That's not a homer mentality. You look at a campus like Iowa, Minny, Mich. They are not like an ISU or KU. Sure there are the CU's where if you love looking at the mountains or skiing, CU is tough to beat. If you love the ocean, we don't have that, but neither does Alabama, Ohio State, TCU, Penn State, ND, OU, etc. Do we have snow, yep. So does Wisconsin, Iowa, ND, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and every other B1G school. If you really REALLY hate snow, you should probably just give up your football dreams as a large portion of the NFL plays in snow since they play into December!

I think the argument that we can't recruit here is just stupid. That's a loser mentality and it's based on what people have been told. Campbell can do everything here he can do anywhere else. Best fans is not just a homerism. Look at KU's empty stadium look at that spirit walk video at KU and look at ours. If we are going to compare our Big XII success to anyone, it's KU, unfortunately. But our fans are more comparable to OU!

Most programs are spoiled. We're like the kid who grew up broke, had nothing, and worked their ass off to just have a shot at what others were born with. We aren't privileged. Any place we end up is because we worked harder than the next guy. That's ISU and I'm good with it and I think Coach Campbell is too. Not everyone likes the easy path. The reward just isn't as sweet.

Personally I don't care much for Herbstreit, but I blame ESPN more than I do anything else. All they seem to hire is former B1G players, who just prop up the B1G all the time and rip on the Big 12 over and over again. But Herbstreit certainly doesn't help this by not being objective and loving on everything B1G all the time.

That's why I fully expect Gameday to be in Columbus OH next week instead of Ames IA. It certainly would be refreshing to see them ditch Ohio State, where they've been probably double digit times, to go to Iowa State, where they've never been, but I won't be holding my breath. Herbie and Galloway do nothing but s**t on the Big 12 every week, and I'm guessing they have some pull.

I know one thing... if they do come here (and the weather cooperates), they won't regret it. It will be insane.

This x100.

ESPN fires or cuts sports reporters and journalists while they keep and promote their talking jackasses. It's why I don't watch anything other than the actual games. The thread about gameday maybe coming to Ames is funny. Oooh, the talking jackass heads could be in Ames!

Well, history would say he's probably right. My hope is that Matt Campbell will be the guy who rejects convention and says that Iowa State is now a destination job.

Very obvious why Kirk is randomly hating on ISU:

1. Oklahoma goes in and blows out Ohio State in Columbus
2. Iowa State beats Oklahoma in Norman to prove OU isn't some all time great team
3. Kirk still wears his Brutus the Buckeye pajamas every night

We ruined his scenario where his Buckeyes have one loss to the top team in the nation. Instead they got blown out at home by a team that's borderline top ten. I would expect most AP voters and the CFB playoff committee feel the same way since they all have a permanent bone for Ohio State.

Our program and facilities have evolved to where if we're already winning we're a lateral move to mid tier jobs. We'll never be Michigan, USC or Alabama, but at least we aren't a big step down from the average FBS program in terms of facilities, revenue, and even fan support that was the case in the 80s to mid 90s. Our program is above average among FBS programs in many metrics with the glaring missing piece being wins.

If it was so impossible to win at ISU Campbell wouldn't be 5-2 on the edge of the top 25 just 19 games into a complete rebuild of a losing team.
