--Growing up with the Big8 and also living through Walden's triple option, it is known that the triple option is a gimic, and is most successful during the long grind of a season when teams only have 3 or 4 days to prep AND you have a superior physical presence (e.g. OU versus Kstate or Iowa state). This game was totally predictable. I wish I would have called vegas, big time. Iowa is a good defense and they had a month to prepare. In actuality, once you get a lead on an option team like Iowa did, you have your defense prepared to DRILL the QB. Forget the pitch, just punish Nesbitt...I have noticed they have failed to do this even though they are being successful. Anyway, Iowa is going to win easily. Paul Johnson is getting thoroughly out-coached.
Second case of out-coaching, the Iowa staff obviously planted several calls in the referees' minds. The chop block, the "block in back" on kick off that was a side shoulderpad. SEC referees were probably hearing from Georgia influence that does not want to see GaTech succeed in recruiting. The Refs have been absolutely one-sided. Yes, I am still bitter about MacCarney taking it like a prison-wife when other teams did this to us.....when a referee throws a hanky on a pre-meditated, influenced call you HAVE to go ballistic for your teams sake. IF this game gets close (which it won't) look for another mysterious offensive holding call against Ga Tech late which determines the outcome.
