Is anyone really surprised that Iowa's defense is shutting down Georgia Tech? Seems like that was the common sense conclusion.
This is what I initially thought, and then I listened to the national pundits who probably only watched Iowa play OSU all season long. They had me convinced GT's offense would run all over the midwesterners.
The fact is, Iowa's defense is built to stop the run. And when you have a month to prepare for them, it almost makes it too easy. GT has to throw the ball.
Are they playing this instead of the 2 teams marching bands? If so... lame.
As far as I can remember and that is from the 80's the Orange Bowl has always had a half time show like the Super Bowl instead of the school's bands.
Well, I think I've gotten my opinion out there about these expert geniuses more than once.
We've talked about this game at work, and Iowa's defense seems to be built exactly for this kind of game. If their defense was worse, and GT could make a shootout out of this, I think they'd have a big advantage. But if this game stays in this sort os scoring range, Iowa owns this sort of game.
Good thing I'm already sick, or Dave's posts would turn my stomach.
That's a good point. Maybe next year some of the people who poo-pooed Iowa all season (looking at you, Pat Forde) will actually sit down and watch Iowa play before writing about them.
Tech gets the ball to start the 2nd half, and it'll be interesting to see if Johnson has made any effective adjustments. If they can get a touchdown, game on. Iowa's offense has bogged down since those first 3 drives
