Official Game Thread - Iowa @ ISU

We have lost this one. This is not the kind of game I was expecting. If we had played a clean game and lost by this much, it would hurt, but I could handle it. This, I can't handle. Rhoads can't be totally blamed, but the coaching staff did not prepare this team of this game.

Here is something I posted on Monday in the moderator only board, thought it might be a good time to post it here....

I have to make a confession and it's one that I can't make on the regular board....

I don't think we're going to win Saturday and I still only see 4 wins this year. Also, I don't think our offense is half as good as people want to make it out to be.

We're vulnerable at several key areas, we still don't have a lot of talent and our guys are learning their third system at ISU in many cases. We have a decent group of receivers and backs but they're not all conference caliber like people on the boards like to insinuate. Arnaud is a step up from what we've had in the past but he's still not somebody that would start for most of the top 6 teams in the conference. He's certainly got a strong arm but he still shows a lot of mistakes and bad passing tendancies.

Can we revisit the thread where we all were drinking spiked cool aid and we actually had an advantage somewhere on that football field? This team reminds me a lot of last years, which doesnt fill me with excitement.

No kiddin, its a good think Stanzi has stunk it up or the hawks could be up by 5 or 6 TDs

It was close early, but Arnaud has taken the lead in the which-QB-can-look-most-inept competition.

Perhaps he has as little respect for Iowa's secondary as some of these posters here do? ;)

Seriously... kid needs to wake up and stop throwing into good coverage. Tuck and run. Could be that he isn't making his progressions very well either...

Where is the picture of ISU getting kicked in the junk? It has to be close to making an appearance....

I have 36-years of enduring this crap.

Thanks for holding back on that.... I would've prepped better and drank far more ;o)

(I have no idea what led people to think we'd win thus game? And especially win it easily )

The onside kick thing and for some reason staying away from the run are the only things the coaching staff can really be blamed for. They can't help it that some of the guys on defense (BANKS!!) don't belong out there, they've got to go with the best they've got.

Interesting. So it is the coaching staff's fault that we have 5 turnovers? Look, I understand people are frustrated, but at this point in time it is just silly to blame the coaching staff when our offense can't get out of it's own way.

i think people are having too much faith in the local guy, arnaud. the guy has no field vision whatsoever. any defense with any good coach can prevent a qb from throwing the ball to the receiver he has been staring at the entire play. defenders are taught to play for the stripe on the helmet. and arnaud's stripe hasn't moved on any single play. what is the point. i just hope our defense will be as good (when not making penalties) against kent state next week. we might have a chance like we did last week against ndsu.
