So, what are they doing to keep others from jumping the gates and cutting into line with friends "who let them in?" I'm assuming that they aren't doing any sort of numbered ticket, wristband, or hand-stamp way of indicating who was in line early. Are they "patrolling" the line to prevent cutting?

Perhaps someone should set up a video monitor to make clear who is in line and who cuts.

They have smart phones...they can take some pictures if they are worried.

I hope they intercept anyone cutting in line and make clear that there is a policy against it. They may not be able to hold back the crowds later, but keeping things in order at the front of the line now will make sure that you guys get the good seats that you deserve. And it will help create an environment that helps you tell the other person in line not to let anyone else in. Once it starts, then it is really difficult to tell others not to do it. Hopefully, this will help prevent it from ever getting started.

Yeah I was only in school for 5 years, so not a huge expert, but generally there are no tests on Syllabus Day.
