Umm, what? LOL You might want to expand on your thought a little. I don't think a monster-thread "proves" anything; and certainly not "why Mizzou went to the SEC while their President and AD were opposed".
 
I am flip flopping.

If we really get the same playoff revenue as the other conferences but only have to split it 10 ways, we should stay at 10 as long as possible.

And the two schools are in a position to win the conference and compete for the national title every year. Travel within the conference is reasonable for all sports. The Big 12 is actually in a decent position. The Elites need the mediocre teams as well. And the money is very good. I see the Big 12 in a position that they would be able to pick off about any of the ACC teams they want if and when they choose to expand. Better off to collect the money and not split it. The Big East will soon not get an AQ bid to the BCS bowls. They are pretty much toast. And other than the expanding footprint to the East Coast I really do not see where the Big Ten added much in Rutgers and Maryland. Overall they overstated the perceived value of those 2 programs. There could have been much better options. The Big Ten has committed themselves to complete football mediocrity and has conceded that the SEC and Big 12 will be the elite football conferences. The alliance of the Big 12 and SEC for their Bowl game is evidence of that.

I agree with this in regards to Texas & OU. Note who the two main defectors were - Nebraska and ATM. Both of them were the other big ego programs in the conference.

Now Texas and OU have their own little playground that they can run however they want. No other conference will allow that.

This guy is not happy but him saying UCF or South Florida would be a better add than Louisville is off the mark imo. I do believe that those are two schools with huge potential, but Louisville has been relevant in football and basketball more than either UCF or SF. With the additional money I can see Louisville being even more relevant. I think they would have (and still could be) a good add to the Big12 IF the Big12 is going to 16. I still don't see the value in adding them now.

I agree, and I also believe that rather than the current GoR having a date-stamp on it to expire in 13-14 more years, that the conference should really put some teeth into it and have it be a rolling 15 year GoR; thus, forcing defectors to have to give 15 years notice that they intend to leave the conference.

This. OU and UT have it as good in the Big 12 as they can have it anywhere, so they are staying put. Any league with OU and UT will have a seat at the big boy table. Whatever happens around that as far as additions and defections doesn't really matter. If scoring some ACC schools pays out, great, but we don't need it to protect our existence.

Where has this idea come from that Kansas is leaving? Looking back through the thread it appears that somebody threw out their name as an example and then 10 pages later it's as if it's a serious consideration that they're thinking of leaving.

Could GOR get overruled? I don't think so, but could it? I really do not get why the hell Kansas wants to leave for mediocre big ten plus friends. I guess if they are so imminent on leaving later ****ers. This **** is just really getting old.

I keep saying Miami is a darkhorse in all this. And I believe him on the buyout funding and on BYU. We have the upper hand on BYU not vice versa things are crumbling around them.

This is exactly what concerns us on the Cowboy boards. Because OU & UT can go anywhere, we feel the rest of us are most vulnerable if the conference does not expand. Last I checked there are 10 schools in this conference, not just UT & OU. IMO, If KU left, the conference is toast and UT & OU would not be far behind.

Sorry to jump in on your board, but was curious what opinions the Cyclones had toward expansion or the lack of it.
 
What KU board is saying they are leaving for sure? If this information came from a solid source I would believe it but you can believe bloggers.
 
If the networks think we need to expand and we will get more value then I see us doing so, but if not then stay at ten. This is like watching a monkey **** a football.

Welcome, I am just as concerned as you are if we have anymore defections at this point in the game. I like the round robin with ten teams, but in the back of my mind think it will leave us behind if and only if these 14-16 team conferences succeed and keeps everyone "actually happy." If we expand it has to be with teams that add value so we are not getting less money at the end of the day. I trust our new commish and hope he is more proactive than Beebe, but this **** is just getting old don't you think?
