There isn't one, but I'd sure as hell hope we'd get the opportunity. The round robin has done nothing to help our bowl chances.
Also- with an extra game of scheduling freedom, perhaps we could see a return to some rivalry games that have been on hiatus:
Texas - A&M
WVU - Pitt
KU - Mizzou
OU - Nebraska
This looks like a strong, two division league to me.
ISU, K-State, OU, oSu, WVU, Ku
UT, Tech, BU, TCU, BYU, UH
Now, whether the additions have 8 votes without a GOR extension is the question. I'm relatively confident that with it, this would be the resulting league and format.

You say no pretty easily if you consider the long term impact to ISU in both adding another conference school in Texas and adding another competitor for a landing spot if/when the Big XII breaks up.
Unless adding Houston comes with a hefty GoR extension then it would be foolish for Leath/Pollard to support adding them to the Big XII right now.

I'll take the one that allows the P5 conference to survive. It's pretty simple. Adding in more teams (particularly successful ones, like Houston is proving to be) increases pressure on keeping the conference alive.
The two I bolded will probably never happen again in the regular season. Texas and KU are too upset at A&M and Mizzou for bolting and will hold a grudge for a long time about it.
And if the Big XII dissolves in the mid 2020s do you want another TCU to be competing against for a landing spot? Especially since right now if all the other four big conferences go to 16 only 1-2 teams will be left out. Any team that the Big XII adds will be another team left out if things go south. I like our chances against K-State, I don't like our chances against a Houston that has been in a P5 conference for a decade.
I don't like our chances EVER. Rather than dwell on worst case scenarios, I'd rather our conference fought to be a premier league in ten years so that networks are forced to pony up. **** super conferences. Expand the playoff.
My hope is that over the next few seasons we can extend our media footprint a bit and get a few teams into the championship along the way.
Here's another reason to push for fourteen schools with a four game non-conference slate: more bowl teams = more revenue.
Even if Oklahoma takes the Cowboys with them to the SEC in ten years, do you think the newly added members who fought so hard for inclusion are going to allow the conference to dissolve around them without a fight? Hell no. Strength in numbers. Even a watered-down Big 12 is better than the AAC, C-USA, Mountain West, or MAC.

Disagree. It is in the best interest of both to expand. GOR will coincide with Longhorn Network.

40% of the conference is land grant. That's equal to the amount of the conference that is in Texas. And there is no overlap. So, land grant will not be a top consideration (I hope and expect). It doesn't matter.

Wow. Another stupid MAC comment.
1. ISU will never EVER be in the MAC. Stop with stupid comments like that.
2. ISU and many others will never vote for expansion without a GOR extension. It just won't happen.
3. UT and OU are more likely to extend the GOR than you think. If there is enough money for an incentive, then they will.
It does matter, especially for presidents of land grant universities that will actually cast votes on whether or not to expand. I could care less if we expand or not, but if we do, I'd rather one of the teams be a land grant if possible.

I hope it does go back to 8 with two Power 5 opponents in the non-con, like the ACC does now.
It would be nice to free up Big 12 schools to do annual non-con P5 rivalries and then have flexibility on another non-con opponent, for more variety.
The future Big 12 could have some pretty fun annual non-con rivalry games:
*Iowa State-Iowa
*Kansas-Missouri
*Oklahoma-Nebraska
*Texas-Texas A&M
*West Virginia-Pitt
And then the teams could schedule as they wish for the other game. The OUs and UTs of the world would aim for a big name to bolster playoff resume while the KUs and ISUs would match up with each other (i.e. Wake Forest and Washington State) in the hunt for 6 wins. Everyone wins.
I doubt that five Texas schools in one division would happen. Swap the OK schools with a couple of the TX ones and we have a deal.
