Everyone on here is giving Gonzaga too much credit. They are good, yes, but not final four good.

Typical dumb Iowa state fan response. Gonzaga is very good. Obviously a tournament team. They are also a team that is a tough matchup for us......especially the way they shot it early. And much like when two tournament play, one loses. Happened to Louisville and Michigan state this week.

Lots of positives. Lots of things to work on. Loved the grit and determination of our guys.

I actually feel good about the game. This was a nightmare matchup for us in regards to size, Gonzaga break the tourney record for threes made and with like, 4 minutes left in the first half were shooting 77% overall. And we still were a buzzer beater three from beating the #11 team.

Also- whats the rule on refs coming in direct contact with the game? I know that it was unintentional but it directly led to 2 points?

1. Yes; Matt only finished with 2. I think he attempted one, or two treys.
2. Refs are part of the action / floor; if the ball touches ref, it is still "live".

All I know is that nobody was looking to drive the ball on the last play, or the last several possessions. The best way to get a good look from 3 is to drive the ball and dish out.

Really wish we had one more time out. Few ordering the foul probably threw off what we were going to do. I was personally hoping for a pass back to Thomas as the inbounder or a drive by Monte.

Great defense to hold them to 24 in the second half. Really upped our pressure on the ball and improved our rotations. Pretty impressive rebounding effort as well.

Dunno...perhaps with Naz...at least on the offensive end if the floor.

You will recall naz scoring in first half was only thing keeping us "in" the game.

It matters where the ref is. If he is inbounds it is a live ball. If he is out of bounds the ball is dead and out on the last player to touch it. With that said the ref needs to be out of bounds.

I have no doubt they will be a tournament team. I agree that they were a tough matchup for us, but we could have won that game. I could be proved wrong, but I just think we are giving them a little too much credit.

Looked like maybe that last foul (to give) against Morris caught ISU off guard. We were fortunate the foul came with 5 sec left or else could have not gotten shot off.

In the end, I don't think we did get it off.

Gonzaga did not make a bucket the last 5:40 of this game. Great tribute to our defense. Wish we would have made that adjustment half way through first half.

Give us another game with Gonzaga in the NCAA tournament and they won't break 70 points. Solomon Young should be healthy and full throttle by then.
