It could be that TJ changes his approach at this late date in the transfer cycle. Looking for a very specific fit with next year's team.
As a fan its easy to get excited about every talented portal kid. The fact that we haven't been seriously linked with any portal posts indicates to me the following possibilities:
I feel we have seen more situations this spring where teams that have signed elite portal players then end up losing players in the portal. The natural reaction by fans is the school pushed those players out, but I think a bigger share are existing roster players moving on to opportunities where significant playing time is available.

- Portal posts are beyond our NIL budget
- Player fit with current roster
- We have made promises to King, Jones, Ward, Biliew and/or Momcilovic about bringing in additional post players.

Not a star but he's started 104 games in his career at Cincy. Solid player and projected starter. Interesting late transfer.
TJ recruited AK to UNLV, but not when he took the ISU job so I doubt he’d pursue now…
Another big name. If nothing else having an open spot will keep this thread going… lot of intriguing player available still.
My guess is he's looking for big $'s. IMO this is a situation where a kid had a nice NIL deal in 2022 dollars, but in 2023 dollars he's been lapped. Would not surprise me if he isn't looking for high-6/7 figure NIL deal if he stays in college.
ISU was his first offer outta HS. Originally went to Tre Jackson’s HS then transferred to Link and played with Omaha. I wouldn’t be surprised if ISU and KSU get involved
6/7 figures for Kaluma is insanity. Good for him if he can get it, but that return on investment would be terrible for any program
Wonder when the first player who don’t fulfill the NIL deal gets sued for leaving via transfer portal and some booster goes after him to n court

We'll be seeing more names through the weekend, too. I think yesterday was the last day for players to submit their names. Schools get a couple of days to process all the paperwork it entails.
These recent additions are probably guys who've seen their teams recruit over them through the portal and see the writing on the wall. Or guys who were already on the fence and finally deciding to portal. Others, like Kaluma and that big from ND, might be using the portal as a fall-back in case they don't get good feedback from the NBA

Kind of makes sense though. The scarcity of high-level transfers will probably drive up demand for these guys. It's a little different now than when you had a ton of guys to chase when the portal first opened up. As the portal has shaken out I imagine you have some teams that are desperate for help and will pay (i.e. Michigan, Louisville, etc.)
