***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Well then you go with Wisdom.

I’m not saying Swanson needs benched for good, he needs a mini-Suzuki get your mind right benching. We can’t have him literally losing games for us at this point in time.
Swanson is 12 of 39 in his last 10. You'd be putting Tauchman, PCA, Wisdom and Morel in a lineup. That's not going to get it done.

This offense hasn’t got it done for 2 weeks, and Swanson’s bat is no better right now then anyone you listed above.

12-39 isn’t bad but you’re giving him credit for Coors.

Hit .184 in August

Hitting .230 in September outside of Coors Field.

Has elite defense but has been horrific lately.

You're grasping if everyone had 12 hits in our last 10 we wouldn't be where we're at.

Grasping? Coors objectively raises hitters stats. He’s 7-27 (.260) outside of Coors in the time frame you’re talking about. Still not great.

Eliminating one ball park, which raises every batters stats, is hardly grasping.

That's still miles ahead of the 4 guys I mentioned you'd have in the lineup instead of him.

In general, I'd absolutely take Swanson over all 4 of those guys.

At this moment in time, for Swanson to be at his best, I believe he needs a mental break like the others.

If you want to use his Coors boost as a reason for why he is fine and should continue playing every day, go for it.

Rossy will most definitely be given next year but if you miss the playoffs in 2024, I'd be shocked if he's given another shot. He's a great yes man and seems to do as the FO wants, but too many self-inflicted losses this year because we coasted.

Absolutely **** the bed last 10 games. We're basically ******.

I don't think this was ever a team that could win or really do damage in the playoffs. Just getting there and being in contention was leaps and bounds better than anything any of us thought was possible.

But to play this way in September is...well...disappointing.

Does the last 2 weeks suck? Of course! But you have to account for things like this happening in the season. And when you **** around most of the season, you aren’t accounting for cold streaks like we’re on.

Call me “another poster” again and see what happens

are you sure he's the one actually filling out the lineup card?

I’m not sure. I would assume he’s not, and I believe a computer does most of the work. That same computer probably thought Canario had 0 hits this season in MLB so he shouldn’t ever get to hit.

Ultimately, lineup and in game decisions are a reflection of him - he’s and Hoyer have both said in the past that he gets last decisions.

However, Maddon has also gone public and said he felt the computer took too much of the human out of coaching.

Probably not but he is the guy that swapped out the dh back to back to back appearances.

I didn't say he was any good, I couldn't tell you. I have a feeling he'll be gone by the time the Cubs are actually serious about competing, just like what happened in 2015.

My point is if it's the FO making those decisions, then you shouldn't expect positive changes just because you changed the manager.

A relevant example would be changing the OC in Matt Campbell's offense.
