***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Watched the entire press conference and man do they have confidence in Michael Busch at 1B.

When you are dealing with Scott Boras it's like a poker game. Both are holding their cards tight to see who wants to call the bluff first. This late in the game Hoyer probably has pushed all his chips in and wants Boras to show his hand. Have a gut feeling all 4 of Boras guys are going to wind up signing deals much shorter than most thought they would coming into the offseason.

Just doesn't seem like there is much smoke at all on talks with any of his 4 guys and at some point it's going to work against them to hold out through spring training as none of them are guys that teams feel they need to lock up long term at this point. They all can fill some immediate needs for some teams but some of the destination options have dried up as some teams already filled those needs with other players already. I can see most if not all of them signing big 1 year or short deals with high AAV and options where they at least get paid well in the short term but have the option to enter free agency again if they have a good 2024 year. Feels like teams evaluations on them must be that there is too much risk and not as high of ceiling on them to give pricey long term deals to.

It's getting the point where I can't see any of the Boras guys, other than Montgomery, signing before Opening Day.

Bellinger, Chapman and Snell are just bonkers if they think they're getting the kind of money that Boras is telling them they will.

The longer they wait the less money and years Boras guys will get now that spring training has started. It's been a game of poker waiting to see who is bluffing and will fold first. Hopefully this is the first time Boras finally over played his hand and his clients had to turn down better deals because of his greed.

Snell turning down 6/150 from the Yankees is crazy. He's 31 and wildly inconsistent. 150 million guaranteed should be a no brainer for him.

His greed?

His greed?
Yes Boras greed. Usually good for both him and his clients as he has the reputation of getting top dollar but for some reason it feels different this time and these remaining guys aren't going to get the monster deals they thought they would.

Cubs must have seen who was on my fantasy baseball team's bench over the last five years and thought it looked good
