They don’t play a style that requires a striker, they essentially use 6 midfielders and have arguably one of the best central midfielders of all time. Their goal is essentially get the game to PKs in the KO rounds. US has a better chance at developing a striker than getting 6 great midfielders.
The US had 3 good midfielders, problem was one could only play 60 minutes and another only 75.
Agreed. They are very good, especially relative to what USA has had in the past, but if they want to emulate Croatia, as was suggested, they have a long way to go.
That's what international football is though. Getting your best players onto the pitch and figuring out a way to get the best out of them.

Giroud has that rare talent of a great striker where he always just ends up in perfect position to score and I have no idea how he does it. Every time I watch him play he looks like the laziest guy out there. He spends half the game slowly walking back from an offsides position.
Despite being down early, Morocco has been giving France everything they can handle. I've been impressed.
If we had had another player like Mbappe to take all the attention Giroud would have scored way more goals in his time at Arsenal. Instead we had Yaya Sanogo, Theo Walcott, and Danny Welbeck.
