That's a crazy, Germany was just peppering the goal for the last 10+ mins without one going in, Costa Rica gets one chance and delivers.

This is by far the wildest moment of group play I can remember in quite a while, if ever since started following in '94.

I feel like there's about a 5% chance the scoring holds here.

Bad angle on tv. Down the line all that is needed is a tiny bit of ball over the line and it’s in. VAR confirmed it was in.

Same principle as trying to discern a TD from a bad TV angle - sometimes you can only tell by a camera shot down the goal line.

Not watching this game but whole of ball must cross line for a goal.

It wasn’t a matter if the ball crossed the line for a goal; it was a matter if the ball crossed the line for a goal kick - if the ball was out of play before the goal or not.

Yeah, the entire ball has to be across the entire line. That's about as close as it gets, but the computer has access to the tech to tell small differences better than that angle.
