***Official 2022 Weather Thread***

Guess I knew this from everything wilting but officially my garden is in the severe drought zone. Going bucket brigade to keep azaleas and rhododendrons alive. Ferns are already turning brown but hope some water will pull them back. Pretty deep shaded lot so I have what I am calling a shade desert right now, lot's of moisture loving shade plants. Seems just like last year, hot and dry.

Wow, haven't seen or even heard of that happening in a long time. Use to see this happen every summer. I assume better road building has prevented much of it from happening as much.

That stretch of 80 hasn't been rebuilt since the 80s. In fact, its scheduled to be rebuilt and 6 lane in the current 5 year plan.

Getting ready to eat out back tonight and all of a sudden it thundered and big drops came down. By the time we got everything indoors and sat down it stopped. Two more very brief spurts of rain and I think we’re done for the night. The outdoor tabletop didn’t even get completely wet. Still 84 degrees.

A Flash Flood Emergency being issued is pretty damn rare.

I hate these "Ring of fire" storms. With my house being in a lower lying area and on the "low side" of town, it gives me anxiety.

This STL flooding is giving me flashbacks to the DSM flash flood in 2018.
Our home office there has flooded there like three times in the last 10 years. Go figure with as much rain as they got, it is fine this time around. This would be south of Creve Cour.

Another rain tease in the Twin Cities with .03" at the airport. Big .18" inches three days ago. Big whoop. Such much dry.

Early evening I did some watering (via both buckets and hose) in an attempt to lure the scattered thunderstorms in. Nothing the weather gods like more than wasted watering or dumping on your freshly washed car. Figured that watering bumped the probability of measurable rain from 0% to something in the 15% range. NWS says 60% but that's science and doesn't account for the drought curse. I mean these weather guys need to acknowledge the frivolous nature of the weather gods and sacrifice a chicken now and than. I do acknowledge that while .02", or some other pissant amount, is technically "measurable" it's insignificant and a little nothing burger.

Beautiful weather yesterday and this morning. Yesterday afternoon was probably the nicest it has been when I've been out golfing this year.
Yesterday was perfect. Not humid and for some reason no flies on the front porch, maybe the light breeze. Even needed a sweatshirt when we were out looking at stars. Feels like the best day we are going to get all summer
